You are right about the dehydration!!! I kept thinking, I am drinking plenty of water, but I wasn't urinating very often. So, you are soooo right, smart girl!!!! So far so good today with the diarrhea. Hopefully it is over, but I will def drink more water. Thanks for reminding me of that.
I have been eating as much protein as I was before, I think that
MsReady is right about the dehydration though. If my stall continues too much longer, I'll try more protein. Thanks everyone.

I had 8 days of horrible diarhea, so I feel your pain. There is an over the counter medicine you can take for diarhea that my surgeon told me to try, but for the life of me I cant think of the name. Sorry!
For those that are further out than I am. Did yall have the dreaded 6 week stall? I'm about to go insane.

Stalls certainly are frustrating!! Try drinking more water and see if that helps and make sure you are getting enough protein!! Also, ditch the scale for a week and imagine you've weighed and each day is one pound lighter!!

Well I didn't have a 6 week stall, but I sure am having a 10 week one. I haven't lost in over a week!!!!!! I am so depressed. I am not doing much different. I am trying to drink lots of water, cuz it is hot here, plus I need to get in enough. Maybe I am still not drinking enough. The diarrhea is gone finally, I think the heat was getting to me.
I feel like my worst nightmare is coming true. I dream that even after surgery, I don't lose weight. I am feeling like that is happening, but at this point and not where I started. Don't get me wrong, I am soooooo excited about my 65 lbs lost, however I expected to kep losing each week. And to go for 10 days without losing is frustrating. I don't know what to do I am so VERY sad right now.

I had a 3 week stall and now I think I'm stalling again at 9 weeks. I'm really focusing on the water (as well as protein) but I KNOW I need to exercise more. Man! It's like a juggling act!

Michie I agree with the juggling act, but on a rollar coaster at the same time. I have read on here that stalls are normal. This is my first long stall, I have tried to add more protein, in fact yesterday I had mostly all protein and very little carbs (when I did, it was whole grain). I am hoping that my body is just playing catch up and resting. I thought maybe it was because I started using the trampoline instead of walking, but I reasearched it again and found that rebounding is 68% more effective than walking, and that if you work out for 30 min, it is like walking for one hour. So, I am still not sure of what is happening. Also, I know that stress plays a role, and since it is back to school time, well as a teacher, I am very stressed and feeling overwhelmed. So, maybe that is the culprit. Who knows, but I will just keep on keepin' on.

Stalls...
Annie- I'm feelin ya! I had about 2-3 weeks where it seemed like the scale didn't move at all. So very frustrating, but here is what made me rethink my emotional reaction:
All of our weight loss is NOT going to be in numbers! We've done some drastic things to our bodies recently, and while we will have large losses on the scale, our bodies will also need to take breaks to readjust, adapt and heal periodically. This is why so many people advocate taking measurements- during a weight loss stall, most people are actively losing inches!! Also, take into account that your body may be hanging on to every little thing because of your weather, water loss (sweating/diarrhea, etc) and stress levels... so try to relax and KNOW that your body is still working on losing the weight. Give yourself a break, refocus on the basics (my advice- cut out the carbs completely for a week or two and see how that works also). We generally are not able to eat enough calories at this point to NOT lose the weight. Be patient with your body.
p.s. Patience is NOT my virtue.

VERY true, NorCal! At my last doc's appointment I was reminded of this.

Good to be back...
Hi all
I’ve just caught up on all the posts and glad to hear everyone is doing so well – and a special cheer for the losers!
My 2 month post op went well. The g/scope showed that I have a small ulcer but he gave me medication for that. I asked him about exercise but he said only aerobic and no weights as yet. I think my team is perhaps cautious to the extreme but I’m OK with that.
I had a good smile when I read you all talking about shoes. While I was walking up the stairs to my surgeon (I have a phobia about lifts) my shoes kept on slipping off lol.
I was spoilt rotten for my birthday but we could not get to see the show I wanted to see so we went to a restaurant. Luckily I was with good friends who understood my strange dietary needs. I had the avocado ritz starter and then we all waited for an hour for mains - I had mushroom soup - not very exciting I know but I have just been moved from a puree diet so I am still testing out the wonderful world of solids.
Good luck with the party Jen. I have also experienced the extremes – some don’t say a word and others quiz you incessantly! I have noticed that I get the most negative responses from obese people – I think they just feel threatened because they know they should do it too. Or perhaps they would love to have it done and are too scared – I don’t know.
Annie – I have also been through a long stall and it was most definitely because I was not eating enough. After 3 weeks of no loss I forced myself to stick to the surgeons plan and get all the water in (even if I ended up drinking through the night) and I am happy to say the scale and I are friends again and I feel much healthier. I also get odd bouts of diarrhea but I don’t mind them too much – it’s a new experience lol – previously I was constantly constipated.
Great advice Norical – I needed that too.
Ag man – how is the ticker doing? That must have been seriously scary. I wish you a speedy recovery and CONGRATULATIONS on reaching THREEOPOLIS – that is totally fantabulous!
Paula – I did Pilates classes some time back – it was great – they work on your core muscles and all exercises are done slowly and controlled. I’m not sure about a machine – never seen one but sounds interesting.
You know what I find really scary – my school photos and even at the ages 21 – 35. When I look at them now I realize I actually looked great and yet I have ALWAYS felt overweight, so I wonder now if I am ever going to reach a weight were I am happy – hum, a troublesome thought. I was cleared by my shrink last month but I think I might need to pay him another visit one of these days…
I would like to apologize for my comment re those able to stay ‘cheat’ free for 60 days did not need the operation – sorry, that was in poor taste my full admiration to those who can!
