Question Weight Loss Cycles

Has anyone else noticed that you go through cycles of weight loss? I'm only 11 weeks out, but I've noticed that I'll have a huge loss (5-6 lbs in a week), then it will slowly taper off by a lb a week for about 3-4 weeks - then there'll be the huge jump again. I'm noticing that it slows down about every four weeks.

Well, I've heard a few things about this being the natural cycle of weight loss, but I'm wondering how much that we have to do with it. I noticed that last week I wasn't motivated to work out but maybe twice (I usually do 6-8 activities a week, gym 4x). I started really contemplating what it was, and realized that after the huge losses, I start to get kind of freaked out. All of the attention, the changes in my body, etc., get kind of overwhelming. I don't really eat more (thank god I'm not currently using food as a coping tool for stress), but I'm definitely less motivated to get up and out.

Maybe I'm alone in this Just curious if anyone's noticed similar things...

Default Me too

Hi Barbara,

I just got on the scale this morning after not being on it for two weeks. I was stuck at 179 for three weeks and decided to stop weighing myself. Just for giggles, I got on this morning and found I had droped to 175 exactly. I will be 6 months on the 30th of this month. So in answer to your question, Yes I notice times of no weight loss.

Hope this helps.

Trust me I totally understand about the getting stuck thing. I go weeks and not loose a thing and then one morning I wake up and I'm down 3. I guess it is our bodies way of making sure we aren't starving. I feel your pain

My surgery was June 3, 2005. My weight loss is slower than most but everyone seems to have their own story. I get very depressed about the stalls but I guess my body is trying to adjust.

you are doing good - dont worry i heard or maybe read if you lose the weight a little slower then you have less skin sagging issues so just as long as you keep losing stead then be happy and celebrate!

OMG! your 11 weeks out and you've lost all that weight? God bless ya! Your doing great. I'm at 7 weeks and I've only lost 40. I want to be down to 198 by Christmas. That's just 17 pounds a month till then. I do have the same problem as you only I don't lose a lot at once maybe a pound or two then a week will go by and nothing. I feel like I'm having to sqeeze out every pound I drop.

Yep, I was stuck for about a month at the same weight and just over the last 2 weeks have lost close to 10 lbs. Thank goodness! I was starting to feel bummed and depressed since I'm trying to do everything right and still wasn't losing! I'm back on track now...wish I could keep my butt off the scale sometimes and quit torturing myself..it's so tempting anymore when I used to avoid it FOR YEARS and only got on one since I had to at the Doctors office once a year! I love the scale now! I notice I lose more when I get really busy and have too much to do! Guess it must be stress related...

Default I haven't lost for a month

It is so sad when you are used to losing weight and then all of a sudden you come to a dead end.... where is the light at the end of the tunnel, I can't see it anymore. Actually I have heard that this is your bodies way of catching up. If so it can do that some other time I got fat to lose
