Default Is something wrong with me?

Tomorrow will be 7 weeks since surgery. I have not lost any weight in 5 weeks and I am so depressed I can hardly stand it. I have tried to stay off the scale but it is like a bad drug, I have just got to have it. I don't know what to do at this point. I feel like the surgery was for nothing as I have only lost 20 pounds. I know 20 pounds is good but I use to be able to do that on the Atkins. I don't mean to be negative but guys, I eat like a freaking bird and I feel sick and I don't have any of the benefits. My doctor says that I should eat every 2-3 hours but my mind thinks that he has lost his rocker. I think he is going to let me start normal foods tomorrow but I'm scared that might make me gain. HELP!!!!!!

Donna,

Nothing is wrong with you. You are experiencing two things. One normal depression from having major surgery. two and normal weight balancing. You body has just been throw into shock. It is not sure what has just happened. So it is stopped for a moment to get it's bearings.

I promise you, you will lose more weight. Eating is a good thing. You body may not be letting go of weight because your not eating enough food. This is called starvation mode. Try you best to get your proteins in 60-90 grams. I promise if you do this and dont' snack and drink your water and take it easy. Do a little exercise you will lose weight.

You are not going crazy. It is a normal thing that happens right after surgery. it happened to me. I was on here freaking out myself at 4 weeks post op.

Now I am 6 months out and at a plateau wondering the same things you are wondering. Is this it. It this my final weight. Well I know from experience that It is not my final weight. it is just a holding place while my body adjusts. I will lose more weight and so will you.

Thanks Barbara,

I know from my past diets that my body holds on to weight when I don't eat enough but it has never been 5 weeks. What do you suggest I eat for the protein? I need things I can take to work.

Regarding the Isopure, if your gonna try it, buy one bottle. Many like it, many cant stand it, me and many of the local gals here on this forum dont like it all.
Also if you go the home page here, thinnertimes.com you will see what proteins are recommended for your weightloss stages. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I ate 5 small meals a day since i was able to eat regularily. I did that until just a couple of months ago. It was all good!

Good thinking Bridget, I'm glad you thought of it because I'm such a complusive person I can see me buying the store out and then hating it. I will go and check out that site for protein.

I like protein bars.

I hate protein drinks. they all make me gag. I have tried just about all of them.

I like carb smart protein bars. They have 10 grams of protein and only 2 sugars. They are not a big project to eat. I have like a couple of others but you will have to try for yourself and see what works for you.

Work stuff is also tuna made at home and brought in. A 3 ounce can has about 20 grams of protein.

Protein shake if ya like em.

I don't know if you have Kroger's in your area or not but I have been eating a lot of the store brand grilled fish. It comes two pieces per box in three varieties lemon pepper, italian herb, and garlic butter. Serving is one piece (107g) 100 Calories, 30 from fat, 0 carbs, 0 sugars, and 17g of protein per serving. You can microwave it but it comes out much better in the oven and only takes a 18 minutes. I have one piece at lunch and one at dinner. They are fairly small but I couldn't eat the whole thing if it was any bigger. It's only $2.59 per box. I like all the flavors but the lemon pepper is the best. It's really worth a try for the price.
