Default Anybody else have this happen?

I lost 16 lbs right away after surgery. I know that is a lot but now for the last 3 days I haven't lost any and am up 2.5 lbs today. I have been following the meal plan 100%. I am guessing it is water weight but will feel better if someone else had this happen to them so soon after surgery (2 weeks today).

Veronica

I hit a plateau right after surgery and really lost weight slowly the first month as my body recovered from the shock..... Now I am humming right along (guess my body finally decided it was ok to burn some fat). My doctor keeps reminding me that eating enough protein will greatly speed up my weightloss.

Default Been there...

I went through a similar situation...you are not alone. I lost quickly the first 3 weeks then plateaued for a week, lost again the next week then plateaued again for 2 weeks. I've noticed that I plateau at "that time of month" but usually follow up with a really good week of weight loss (like 10 pounds). Overall, though, my weight loss is as good as I would have expected so I don't really fear the plateaus so much. (Don't get me wrong... I would not have said that when I had my first plateau though.)

If you are sticking to the diet plan and getting in some exercise, you'll keep losing.

Default Step Away From The Scale!!

Stop weighing yourself! I was driving myself nuts! Bridget and everybody else here gave me that most valuable advice and I try to adhere to it. I don't own a scale and I'm kinda scared to buy one because I'm sure I'd be on it. Take it to a friends house and leave it there for awhile. I know it sounds extreme but if you've got it you'll use it and use it too much. I try to weigh only once a week or every other week.

Thanks, you guys!
That helps me so much!!!!!!!! You have no idea how much. I am not sure what I was expecting - maybe to lose quickly all the time. I will practice patience (that is gonna be really hard for me though!).
I just want the scale to be my friend after so many years of it being my enemy. But you are right, I should get rid of it or have hubby hide it and bring it out once a week.

I officially weigh in every Monday and record my weight...any other day if I weigh...I do not worry. Weighing every day is nerve wracking. I am weighing every day now to gain and see if I ate enough to put on some pounds. Otherwise, like Amber said, stop weighing and throw that scale aside. It will just drive you crazy and a lot of it may be water retention. I know with this hot weather that we are having, I am retaining water. My belly is bulging out.
