Default Am I loosing enough?

Ok so I've lost 57 lbs and Im 2 1/2 months out. Is that ok? Cuz I keep reading on here seeing how fast other people have lost and it doesnt seem like I'm doing as much. Like I saw someone had lost 61 lbs and theyre 10 weeks out! They started off weighing less than I did too. I dont know why I havent lost as much really, I go to the gym like 3 or 5 times a week and work pretty hard when I'm there. (I did 80 min of cardio - eliptical and bike- tonight) So I was just curious if I'm loosing the right amount or if I'm loosing too slow?

Wow, if you are doing that much exercise I would guess that you are probably turning your fat into muscle (especially if you are getting in plenty of protein) so maybe that is why you aren't losing as fast as others. But, my personal opinion is that 57 lbs in 2.5 months is really, really great!!!! That doesn't sound slow to me.

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

As Bridget says, keep your eyes on your own paper. Everyone is different!!!!!

The more important question I see is, have you ever lost 57 pounds in 2 1/2 months before? I think that's an awesome accomplishment no matter how long it took - right? Right! You're doing GREAT!

Right now I am scared and angery. I went and weighed myself...nevermind that I have not lost any more weight in the last three weeks but I actually gained three pounds overnight!!!! I have only lost 60 pounds in three months. I BARELY eat and I am not losing anything anymore. I haven't been able to exercise because I am still having problems with my legs. They are numb and weak. Anyone have this happen where the weight wasn't coming off for more than a couple of weeks and then actually gained some?

I have not been in your shoes.....I am still post-op. However, from what I know of nutrition and the wisdom of our bodies.....I'm going to guess your body is hanging onto every morsel and fluid you have to avoid starvation. I would make sure you are eating all the calories you are supposed to and drinking plenty of fluids. As for the 60 lbs.......I think that's great for 3 months! I sure hope you feel better soon.

Anyone who is following the pouch rules and still does not lose weight, needs to get their free T3 and free T4 checked. Most doctors will tell you that it isn't necessary that you only need TSH but this is NOT true. Do your research on the web. If you don't have enough free T3 you won't lose weight and you will lose muscle no matter what else you do. I found out after I had lost a lot of muscle so don't wait. If you think there is something wrong, demand these tests. It is a simple blood test and it could change your life. Low thyroid levels affect every part of your body and it is one of the most under diagnosed problems we have (doctors like to say we would be fine if we just were not fat so they don't really look for the cause). I am not saying that everyone who is obese is hypothyroid but if you have had WLS and are following the rules and STILL cannot lose weight there is something else going on and you owe it to yourself to check it out.

aboutt he pouch rules...r u serius we only have a set amount of time to eat our food in? It takes me much longer than 15 minutes just to chew. My thyroid levels were normal but my b complex was low. Am taking different vitamines now and a b complex supplement. My legs are swelling like crazy now though. Feels like I am retaining water in them. But you are right about losing muscle. I actually see it and feel it. I am so much weaker than I was and I still see a lot of fat and less muscle in my legs and arms.

Did you get a copy of your thyroid numbers or did your doctor just tell you that you are normal? I was told that I was normal for years and it turns out that normal can be misleading. The free T3 needs to be at least midway in the scale. I feel best if I am about 75% in my T3 range. I don't know how long it will take to regain the muscle that I have lost now that I am on thyroid meds. I don't want to see anyone else go through what I have.

I called the automated lab to get the results. It first tells you what the normal range is for what the result you are about to hear and then it tells you whether it is within normal range or not. My liver enzymes were high. My b-12 was extremely high. protein was high, but the b-complex vitamins were low so she recommended I take these new vitamins for a month then if nothing changes she is referring me to a neurologist. She has already referred me to physical therapy to teach me how to use my legs effectively again. I was freaking out earlier about not losing weight but I think it is true what you all are saying. My body is holding on to every ounce until I properly nurished again. I am starting a walking routine on Monday. Twenty minutes of brisk walking a day. Hopefully my legs won't give out
