Default Saggy Skin Question...

Hi Everyone,

I am not post op...or anywhere near it, just starting the process. I have been thinking a lot about the excess skin after weight loss...like I am obsessing over it. I know every person is different, but can some of you give me an idea of how your skin was for you? I am 5' 9", weigh 310 and am 33 years old. I am freaking out that I will have saggy skin all over my body. I know I can get a TT, but I can't afford to lift and tuck everything!! Is the saggy skin just as unattactive as the fat? HELP!!

Signed,
FAT WITH TAUT SKIN

j/k,
Cindy

The only thing my dr really told me about saggy skin is that since im young, i shouldnt have it too bad if at all. (i'm 20) and youre young too so you might not even have it. they told me that the more i worked out and tried to tone up with light weights and situps, the better it would be. i'm still early in the process, im only 2 months out, so thats all i know, havent experienced it yet!

I too am scared about loose skin. My doctor said that since I am 24 that I might not have as much loose skin as if I were older, but he said I will have some. I am just so bummed about it, I don't want to be 25 years old, and be at a healthy weight, and not want to wear a bathing suit (a one-piece) or a spaghetti strap shirt because of loose unattractive skin.
I guess the reason why I am so worried about it is because my best friend had gastric bypass 1 1/2 years ago. She was 28 when she had it, and she has lots of loose skin. Of course she spent 10 years being 230lbs (at 5'4") but the skin from her butt hangs low, and her thighs too. Her husband told her that he would rather see fat then skin. But with her clothes on she looks really great, you would never guess!
I decided that I would rather be skinny and look great with my clothes on, oh well if there is excess skin.
A question for people over 1 1/2 years out: Does the excess skin shrink back slightly more over time? I mean, it will still be there but does it take a while for the skin to shrink back?

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

its all in your genes. There is nothing that can be done about it, and having it really isnt such a big deal. I had a tummy tuck and a thigh lift, ONLY because my insurance paid for it. Otherwise I would have learned to love it. I still hae saggy skin on my buttocks, outter thighs and back, and really I had every intention on fixing it but I dont see it as bad as I used to.

You too would have to agree that having a lean body under saggy skin, beats having a fat body beneath tight skin. Look at my photos, can you tell I even have lose skin. Most cant. You learn to accept it (eventually.)
