Well every surgeon recommends different things to their patients. My surgeon said to eat every 3 hours, breakfast eat a meal, then have a shake for snack, lunch eat, another shake for a snack, eat dinner and a snack later that evening. In between all of that I'm supposed to get 64 oz of fluid in. I believe I can count the shakes as fluid and also stuff like sf jello and Popsicles. I am a month out. How far out are you?

Don't worry Kat, I didn't lose an oz. over the past day, probably cause I didn't work out yesterday. But you're funny. We can have a friendly little race going on and keep each other motivated.
But anyways, I'm confused. Were you specifically told to only eat 3 times a day? That just seems crazy to me. I, at 3 weeks out, am told to eat at least 6 times a day, with protein shakes counting as a snack in between meals. It will also count as your liquid. I'm doing good at getting my protein in, so I only do a shake in the morning and then for my other snacks it's usually fage yogurt or babybell light cheese. I think it would be pretty next to impossible as well to only get 3 meals and try to get all your protein in!

Kat, that's not even fair. Your surgery was 5 days after mine and I'm only a pound below you! I'm gonna have to kick it into high gear!!!

Yeah I was told when I start soft foods stage 4 which I have started today, that I should be on 3 meals a day and only my liquids in between. Thats why I was wondering how in the world I could get that all in. So I can just drink the WW shake as I would water? Should I drink a full 11 oz or should I split it up through out the day?

Carrie-

Im still tweeking too, trying to find the best way to get this all in....Does food taste different to you? Everything I eat has a different taste then before surgery. Even with all the water I seem to have a stale taste in my mouth, that lingers, worse in the morning of course, I think I have brushed my teeth and tongue raw and still to no avail. So much to learn and I love all the supoort!

Hey Kat, how much protein are you getting? How much is each shake? I would definitely do more than one. Plus, protein starts to break down when you put it in the fridge. I would think you need as much protein as possible, so drink away!

Hi everyone,
Glad to find our new home.

I too am having problems getting all my fluids and food. I drink 2 shakes and if I drink them too fast I end up in the bathroom. I had a hardboiled egg for breakfast and lunch. I was told by my doc to only eat three times a day and learn not to snack. The shakes fill me up so much that I don't want to eat and have to force myself. I get confused by the water thing. Not drinking 30 min before or aft...I forget when I eat or have had a shake and have to count my 30. I have to really remind myself to drink water and I too have little coming out.

Tonight I am going to Rubios for a fish taco....I am just going to eat the insides and a side of beans. That should be yummy.

Sorry...this is really rambling.

And the ticker thing is really aggravating me too. I can't figure out how to change it. It has my goal as 133...I would look like a stick at that weight.

I had my surgery on the 17th of March and have lost 22 but 10 of that was pre-op liquid diet. Do I count that. If not it seems like I am losing slowly.
