I have to confess that I was never able to tolerate protein bars or shakes. It might have been a mental block, but I just couldn't do it. I had a really bad experience very early post-op with some powdered protein in eggs--I got sooooo sick! That pretty much took care of protein powder for me.

And, whenever I tried any protein bar, it dropped like a rock in my stomach. So I gave up and started tracking my food on fitday.com. I've been incorporating my protein in my food since almost the first week and I've never had a problem. My opinion is to do whatever works for you.
