Default stomach muscle pain

I'm had OPEN surgery 18 days ago. Is it normal for my stomach muscles to still hirt. The incision doesn't hurt, but the muscles on either side do. I'm still wearing the binder most of the time cause it helps the pain. Is the pain suppose to be gone, or how much longer?

Arrow Muscular Pain

Cindy:

Yes, it is normal to still have muscular pain. I remember having sore abdominal muscles for quite a while. You've had a traumatic invasion into your abdominal cavity, so it takes time to heal. Of course, if the pain becomes constant, gets really severe, or you develop other symptoms such as a fever, you should contact your surgeon. However, muscular pains when you move will go away eventually.

Take good care of yourself. Best wishes for a speed recovery...muscles and all!

Misty- did you grow up in Lompoc? I am from there, both my husband and I grew up there and all of our family lives there.

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

Misty -- Ya I came home last week. Let me know and maybe we can get together when you come up.

Thanks Dara --- at least I know it's normal. Not totally painful, just something for me to whine about I guess.

mfergusont --- I was born and raised here in Santa Maria.

I cant really give any advice on your stomach muscles, but I was just curious how come you had your surgery done open instead of laproscopic? My dr never really even mentioned doing it that way and so i was just curious how come you had yours that way. Sorry if you think im being nosy, just being curious. Also, can anyone tell me how to put your pic on your name thing, like yalls are? I tried one day and it didnt work. help? thanks!

Hollie,
You have to resize your picture to 80x80 pixels, no bigger then it will work just fine.

I too am having horrible muscle pains in my side. I had laproscopic, but it's still preventing me from sleeping Hopefully for the both of us it will go away (I hope).

Holly,
Dr. Callery decided to do my surgery OPEN because of having to also take my gall blatter out becasue I had a bunch of gall stones.
I had someone size my picture for me and then it worked some how. Can't tell you how.

I had the open procedure and my muscles were sore for quite sometime after surgery. It never hurts to call the doc and make sure that is normal. I hope you are feeling better soon.
