Angry Cheated...feel guilty.

Hi everyone.
As most of you know I had lap banding on the 5th and was only on liquids for the first two weeks. I was good and didnt cheat at all when i was on liquids, but now that im in my mushy food faze I find myself cheating! They told me I can only now have things like mushed banana, or hummus, things like that, but since cooking is a hobby of mine and I love cooking for hubby I find myself sticking things in my mouth.
The other day at the market, the bakery section had pizza on sale and the next thing I knew I bought it! it was a small size pizza and I took it home and baked it and sat down to eat it! I admit I only had like a slice and a half but I know pre surgery I would have eaten 2 of those pizzas. I made sure I chewed for like 5 min before swallowing. I didnt feel naucious or sick but I did feel like the food was getting stuck in my throat and had to wash it down, which is bad cos im not supposed to drink anything for 15 min after I eat.
I threw the pizza in the garbage so I wouldnt be tempted by it again later in the day. My next weigh in is tomorrow and I have this feeling Im not gonna be happy with my results.
Sorry for the long post..I just needed to vent. I really am very mad at myself.

Okay, so you did it this time, don't continue to beat yourself up about it. But think of the reason you felt you had to have the pizza instead. The doctors give us a tool they don't work on the head part. You've got to figure out why you felt you had to have the pizza. That's the key my friend.

Today is a different day, we get to start all over.

We all go off our recommended diet every once in a while. Pick yourself back up and get back into the driver's seat. You may have to work at the behavior part much more than we do since you won't have to worry about dumping or malasorbtion side effects. You still have a tiny stomach that is sensitive to texture of meals.

We've all done it, "messed up" Just pick yourself up and learn from your mistake. Just dont make it a habit to eat to see what you can get away with... this is your tool for your life long diet. Think protein, if there is no nutritional value, dont buy it. I love pizza, lasagna and stuff.. so what I do is get a scoop of cottage cheese, add marinara on top of it, maybe more garlic or parm or mozz cheese, microwve some pepperoni slices until crisp and then use those to scoop up the mixture.. its great, and I love it. Full of protein!

your gonna do fine... just dont do it again! lol Love ya!

Thanks you guys for all your support. I am so thankful I saw this site. I made up for it today I hope, was invited out to chilis and only had an ice tea with sweetn low and soup.( Im not supposed to really EAT yet so couldnt get chicken salad or something) and my friends had texas fries and chicken fried steak! and they kept offering me some lol. but I said no. Tomorrow is my weigh in...I'm so praying that Ive lost!!
That pizza thing is a great idea bridget, Im gonna buy some pepperoni as soon as i can eat more.
Now, what is the REASON that I can only have mushed up foods now? why cant I eat normal foods? is it so that my stomache gradually gets used to the band? and with my cheating, have I stretched my pouch like everyone keeps telling me not to do? and if I stretch the pouch what happens? it cant be fixed with a fill? I know all of you are GBS and not lapband, but if anyone does know this Id appreciate it. Especially Monique seems to know so much about the band! Watergirl lol you look sooooo sweet in your pic. Like you couldnt harm a fly. I wish I could meet all of you!

I don't know the first thing about lap band, but I do know that pizza is bread and that it does gum up and plug up our anastamosis. Depending I suppose on what size your pouch is, I don't know about stretching, but I don't think I would want to take any chances. I know with GBS we had sutures so the food could easily become wedged between those tiny sutures, that is why we are on clear liquids for a few days, then full liquid, as the sutures healed we progressed with the consistency of food. I wish you well, have a safe journey. I love your quote.

With any type of gastric surgery, your body needs time to heal. You eat in stages until you get back to regular food. It depends on the particular surgeon about when is the best time to go to the next stage.

An occasional over indulgence may not do any lasting harm. Repeatedly over doing it can stretch your stomach out. Since your stomach is just squeezed tighter, you can get away with "cheating" more easily. With bypass, we risk tearing out staples and sutures, causing leaks and infections. You risk causing erosion of the stomach tissues if you overeat the portions. Erosion is one of the primary complications of the Lapband.

Talk about sweet! You're sweeter than sugar (or shall we substitute that today with Splenda?) Thanks for the very nice compliment!

Funny thing you should mention meeting because Bridget and I are developing a map that will take us all over the world to visit all the wonderful people we've had the pleasure to talk with. We've added Saudia Arabia to the list chickadee!

Thanks for the great posts guys. Monique you know so much! Are you a doctor or just well informed on the topic? And lol, Traci I love my quote too.
LOL Kandi as much as Id love havin ya'll over tourism isnt allowed here.( Unless you have a saudi sponser you, and even then only for work) Even to bring my mother over for a visit is difficult! If you want to see the middle east though, I HIGHLY HIGHLY reccomend The United Arab Emirates, It's amazing there, and you get to ride the sand dunes and experience so many different arab cultures. Going there is like going to all the arab countries, especially during festival season!
take care!
