Default Ladies - menstral questions after weight loss

Gee, I wonder if the guys are hitting this title - ha ha. Usually as soon as you put "ladies only" on the title, they're chomping at the bit...

Anyway - I am getting really close to goal here but now my periods are getting REALLY light - like - one day. The women in my family have all gone through menopause late - like 56 and 57. I can't imagine the weight loss has sent me into early menopause, but I guess it is possible. Would be very bad news of course...

Any experience out there?

Just because you are right, I'll post to say you are right...guys check this stuff out >_>.

As far as your question goes, I don't know, but from reading it seems that because of the weight loss your body treats your periods different.

Hopefully someone can shed more light. GL!

(stay away guys! I took the fall for this one!)

I don't have any helpful advice Gina, but I'll certainly trade you. Mine last about 3 weeks, even after a recent D&C which was supposed to fix the problem.

Have you had blood work done lately? Was your testosterone level okay? (Yes, women have testosterone, lol. )

I know we have it - I have a lot I believe. (Anderon is the hormone men have that women don't - or is it spelled anderen?)

No blood work lately - I know - it is time to go to the doctor...sigh. I hate doing all that but it has been about 6 months and I have iron issues.

I could be wrong, but can't anemia affect your periods? Then again, I can't remember where I read that.

No chance of pregnancy, right? Is it possible that you are mistaking a breakthrough bleeding/spotting for a light period? Good luck, but definitely check in with your gynecologist.

Gina, sweetie...love of m life Get thee to your doc for a blood test first to find out about your vitamin levels. Your iron levels can certainly effect your periods. I would also see a gyno about the menopause thing just in case. Have you started or been taking any form of birth control? That could also cause different periods. Now I know you're on a break since you teach, so I know you have the time to make a doctors appointment...go do it darlin'!!!

I'm wondering the same thing, because I am almost 2 weeks late. Got so scared that I did a preganancy tes. Not pregnant. So now I wonder about menopause. At 47?

Sure, why not?

Average Age of Menopause & What Age is Menopause

The average age is 51, so some will go earlier and some will go later. Also, peri-menopause will start to affect many women 10 to 15 years prior to menopause.

I'm 48 (well, 49 really) and I've had serious hot flashes the last couple of months.. but I've had symptoms of peri-menopause for a while now, particularly the excess facial hair.
