I guarantee they won't find me dead on the toilet with a Wendy's frosty in my fist. I'm not that far gone.

Eewwww
Oh Peck.... ewwwww. That's the most aweful thing I've heard in relation to this surgery.
Anyway I've had things stuck PLENTY of times b/c the opening going into my stomach kept trying to heal closed. I usually had to just ride it out. At first tiny sips of water seemed to help a little, but then I was getting water stuck!!! I know how you feel! Anyway, stick with liquids. Everything is so swollen tight right now you can't handle anything else.
BTW I wasn't allowed pasta until three months out.... and sometimes it still doesn't go down so well.

oh the pain...
I too have experienced the "stuck" thing. I asked the Dr. and he said that if food gets stuck all the time, you should see your doctor. It could be a problem with the opening. Since you have already been sufficiently scolded about sticking to what the dr. has ordered, I won't go there. But, in the future, you must chew, chew, chew. My first experience with getting food "stuck" was a ravioli (darn pasta). Best to you!

Poor guy, do you need a few kisses to make it all better
A major rule of thumb is to chew well and eat sloooooowly. Wait between each bite. It doesn't take much to go over the edge, particularly in the first 2-3 months. It takes a few months for your gut to heal and adjust to the new changes.

You have been throughly scolded But What where you thinking? You could have really hurt yourself. Those darling babies need you. I am 3 1/2 mo out and pasta or any type of bread are big no no's for me. We are all different in what we can tolerate and what we have trouble with but I would say early out it is meat, eggs, bread/pasta. Now you know so just try to be cautious with those items WHEN you get to that point in your dietary guidelines. I know that stuck feeling all to well and the only thing you can do is walk and hope it goes down or hope it comes back up.

An awful story and honestly told to us at the support group meeting by my surgeon.

today marks the end of 2 wks 4 me..it is hard 2 quit those foods u love isn't it?i also went in for a bita of spaghettie figuring if i chewed it up throughly enough last night it would be liquified enough.wrongo!it hurt as it painfully seemed to swell in my esophagous.didn't want 2 throw up so i began to walk quickly around the house and massaging my throat all the way down and deeper slow breath until it slowly made its way through dow further then it was no problem.no i was not warned why 2 stay away from starches this early other than i thought stay away to amximize weight loss..i have found that if i include watermelon w/my food i do very well if i have a bit of that..say like a tablespoon..i am eating fine otherwise.i just had spaghettie sauce in ground beef for lunch w/watermelon..i try to mix the foods up so they don't ball up inside..i don't want 2 experience constipation of the throat like i have read of..hahaha..cottage cheese also works good w/albacore tuna w liquid..be good!

It depends on what is stuck. A protein based food will pass or you can mix a little meat tenderizer in water and swig it. Pasta and breads swell as they sit there and get worse. Don't do it!!!!

Key thing...don't eat things that you shouldn't eat, especially this early out. Your body is reacting and not ready for this kind of food.
Not much you can do when things get stuck - vomit them up along with the slime. When you are allowed other foods, eat VERY slow and CHEW well...it helps.
