Congrats!!!! You will begin your new life in 4 days. Take deep breaths, in & out, nice and slow.

Just clean the house, pay the bills and breathe, in & out. Everything will work out fine. And take chapstick to the hospital. I swear, it's almost the only thing you need, oh, and your pillow is nice too. Hang in there, it's almost here!

Toss out all your hidden comfort foods.

Now on a more serious note....You are prepared for this. You've spent weeks, months, years looking for a solution to your weight problem.

You're ready. Have faith in your choice....Have faith in yourself.

Good luck.

thanks a lot guys for those comforting words, but i gotta say its kinda hard tossing my comfort food in the garbage. I'm not sure what foods or liquids I should buy for when I return home from the hospital? hey jared is there much of a difference between open WLS and laparoscopic??
Hey Peckkale- we both have the same surgery date, I bet you are excited as I am. Hope all goes well.

Open is a big incision up your middle. Laparoscopic is five little holes the size of a pencil eraser. To me that's a really big difference; it was the deciding reason I chose my surgeon. I only spent one night in the hospital and that's not unusual for lap.

My surgeon's web site has a section called "unadvised procedures," one of which is traditional open surgery. See

Default Hazel,

It's totally normal to be freaking out right now. Trust in your faith. I wish you peace and comfort to see you through.

I have doulbe the chapstick advise. I didn't use mine as much as I should and I thought my lips were never going to stop peeling. Use lots of chapstick. Get the softer stuff cuz you will not want the hard stuff. Now ever time I go visit someone in the hospital I bring them chapstick.

Food advise. SUGAR FREE Jello, pudding, fudcicles, and chicken broth. You will not need very much of any of these. That's about all you will need. I made the mistake of buying much to much. But I have issues with stocking food in my house.

Default Bright Side

A positive attitude goes A LONG way in the healing process. The first month isn't easy, but if you look forward to the benefits to your health and physical changes, you'll be a winner! Honestly, I've known people who have gone in to the hospital so caught up in feeling bad for themselves, that they made it a million times worse. Smile (yours is beautiful, I just know it) and say goodbye to those pounds!

Cheers!
