Exclamation Sleeping ideas????

Ok I have this huge king size bed that I kinda need a running start to get into ...roflmbo, not a pretty sight! Anyway I got a stepstool but I have read on some posts that i is hard to get up from a lying down position. What positions for sleep worked for you? I may send hubby to buy me a big squishy recliner .

i remember i couldn't get up unless first i had the binder on and second my husband probably for 2 weeks had to help me get up and sort of lift me from lying on my back to a sitting up position so i could get out of bed. good luck,

A friend of mine had a piece of foam that rose at a slight angle starting at the hips. It lifted his head & shoulders up a few degrees higher then his hips, and made getting out of bed (and lying down) somewhat easier. He claimed it also relieved his chronic headaches!

Exclamation Good Question...

I didn't sleep for the first 2 weeks...seriously. I sat up on the chaise lounge. I wasn't comfortable laying in any position. One reason I didn't sleep is because you have to get up to walk every 2 hours...very important. The other reason was I couldn't breathe laying on my back and my muscles were too sore to sleep on my side/stomach. Don't count on getting too much sleep inititally The good news is that it does get better everyday. Just remember to wear your binder. Good Luck!!!

It is pretty hard to get up. My dear Hubby had to put his arms around me and heave me up, but that was only for maybe 4 or 5 days. I don't know if I could sleep in a chair.

I slept in the recliner for the 1st 2 weeks after I came home from the hospital. The first time I slept in bed I could only roll over onto 1 side (right). My back hurt so bad the next morning that I couldn't hardly move (that was after 1 wk home) so I was back in the recliner. Now I sleep in be with no problem and can even sleep on my stomach. I am 6 wks post op now.

My recommendation in sleep in a recliner.

Tracy

I slept in a recliner every night for 2 weeks after my first experience when I got home from the hospital.

I got home from the hospital exhausted.. I went directly to bed and slept for 3 hours. When I woke up I tried to roll over and some how get out of bed. It was not possible. Thank God I had my cell phone still with me in bed for some reason. I called the house my husband picked up the phone. Me crying I said "honey can you come into the bed room and help me get out of bed, I can't move" He came running to help me.

I slept in the chair the rest of the time so that I could go potty and take pills without having to wake my husband up to help me. He needed his sleep cuz he was helping me all day long. We became closer than ever after my surgery. He exceeded my expectation of what a husband would do for me. And yes I told him that and still tell him that all the time.

I went from first sleeping in my recliner to sleeping on the couch I had two pillows under me so I was really sitting half way up but it worked. I did not make it to my bed until like 3 weeks later and it hurt to lay on my side and even worse to try and lay on my back. I have a bed that is really high up and I have a step stool I use to get up into it but that was not a problem It just hurt to lay flat or to lay on my side...it pulled too much...ouch
