Question Lost hobby

I am six days postop. I am bored out of my mind and have cabin fever so bad that in a few days I'll be nuts. I was wondering around the house a few minutes ago and realized: I DON"T HAVE MY HOBBY ANYMORE!!!! Yes, eating was a hobby for me. I ate when bored, tired, sad, happy, retrospective, goal oriented....... I ate all the time! Now I need to figure out what to do with myself.

Going back to work will really help, but I don't go back until the 10th. Does any one have any suggestions???

My favorite hobby is cross stitching. Actually lost 40 lbs once doing it. Quit smoking doing it. It just gets your mind off everything! You can set goals to achieve and you can also make some really cute stuff for friends and family. Not to mention its not a hobby that you have to do alot of body movement for, so its a great healing tool. Good Luck

I'm a digital scrapbooker! Do you like to work with digital photos? Or maybe regular scrapbooking. I used to cross-stitch, too. I really enjoyed that. I love photography and computer things. How about geneology? There are so many wonderful things to learn about out there! There is a huge world beyond "hobby eating".

Default cabin Fever

When my husband and I are stressed out, computered out, and winter still has six months to go... we do jigsaw puzzles from our favorite artist. Sitting at a jigsaw puzzle together looking for the right pieces has evolved into some very good conversations between us. It's very relaxing and can get your mind off your troubles, especially when your looking for the puzzle piece you need.

If we're really happy with how the puzzle turns out... we glue it, frame it and hang it in our rehab center or office.

Hope this helps. Dianne

PS: Puzzles are cheap

Talking

I have always eaten as a hobby. I do like to crochet. I started making a dish cloth last night. I've always been a good started but not a great finisher. I used to do counted cross-stitch, candlewicking etc. That part of me died 12 years ago with my sister. So did my love of baking. Now I don't need to bake!!!

This really is the beginning of a totally new life for me. Next time I get to Walmart my first stop will be in the craft section and the puzzle section. I'm going to look for inspiration!!! I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the help!!

I like to walk or hike or climb. Anything to take my mind off of food. I also bird-watch.

I love to make quilts by hand--hardly ever use the sewing machine anymore. Love to knit, used to crochet and cross stitch (trying to again) but bothers the arthritis in my fingers too much but a little everyday is ok. Began making my own jewelery too--I sip all the way through all my hobbies! OH I forgot I paint too--lol
