Exclamation ALERT!!! You know when you...

… choose a plant to give as a gift (or even for yourself!)?
You choose the brightest, with nicest flowers and most buds, right?
The healthiest looking one, right?
Those plants that we gift away represent our concept of good health. We strive to give “the best” as presents, just as much as we like to receive “the best”.

Now, it is up to us to choose to retain those plants as “the best” by watering, fertilising, dead-heading and nurturing them. Whether they are gifts received or purchased for self…

We all lead busy lives, have things to do, people to meet and places to go to… We never have real time for the small things in life… including watering the damn plant…

We might give it water daily, once a week or when we remember, as we are dashing out of the door. When we come back from holiday, we are inevitably disappointed to find the wilting plant, earth bone dry, leaves yellowing, buds dried up and flowers spent… and into the trash it goes… A slightly guilty feeling as we toss it – it was after all a present. Just think of all the times that we did water it regularly and the initial enjoyment…. All those special pots of plant fertilizer we dutifully went out and bought for it…

WELL – swap plant for ME!, yes, me, VIM!!!
I have neglected to water myself! Yep, not enough daily intake – in fact, sometimes barely a glass of water! Never felt the need to drink, was not thirsty, didn’t think about it, tomorrow I’ll drink and make up for today, blah, blah, blah…

END RESULT? Feeling beyond AWFUL! The world’s splitting headaches, light headed, dizzy, nauseous, buzzing/speeding feelings… Not functioning, forgetting things, sleepy all day long, jittery night sleep, moody…

RED ALERT!!! DRINK, DRINK and DRINK again!
HOWEVER: to recover, get from your chemist (non-prescription) rehydration salts to mix with a small glass of water. Tastes not very nice, (like a teaspoonful of salt stirred into a glass of water), but the benefits are pretty instantaneous. Take a couple of sachets over the next 3-5 days and GRADUALLY up your water intake (remember the risks of overwatering your plant).

How could this sort of thing happen to me? After all, it only happens to “others”. No, for some stupid reason, me, Vim, I thought I was immune, like I have always been (pre-surgery).

Doing well now, but I did get stupidly frightened (rare occurrence!). PLEASE, don’t fool yourselves that you are above it all. Reach for that water NOW!

Cheers!
Vim

Thank you for this!

I, for the longest time, refuse to BUY water... I mean:it comes from the faucet: it's free, right?

I STILL prefer to refill my bottles with tap water (unless I am at the office where the closest source is the cooler of branded water) ...

And I have always marveled at people who ALWAYS carry water bottles around! I think, what's the deal? Are they afraid the will be unable to get to potable water?? in Western civilization? Really??

Well, do I need to say it? I don't drink all the time - tho I have been in training and getting in my 90 ounces/day... but I can see from your post and others' that sip sip sip sip sipping is in my future!

I will do it! And all I can say is : my poor plants (who usually thrive on neglect) - they are likely to be the reminder I need to sip sip sip!

Vim, honey, you have to take care! Ever since my surgery I guess it's become a habit to drink all day every day. I get up going for a glass of liquid and I drink my last sip right before bed at night. There is a drink by me all day everyday in my house and on my desk where I work. I am nekid without it. I go NOWHERE, even to the store, without something in my car with me. I have noticed that I have this parched feeling all the time and if I am not sipping throughout the whole day, I get choked up and a dry throat. I won't understand this. Maybe it's from just having the habit, but I don't even like to walk through Wal Mart without something. I'm happy I have this habit in a way, but sometimes it's terribly annoying also. I still can't drink plain water at over 2 yrs out. It just hurts like the devil.....so I drink tea, coffee, sugar-free Hawaiian Punch, sugar-free koolaid, and anything else I can get my hands on that is close to water. I even drink water with lotsa lemon and splenda to make lemonade. So DRINK UP WOMAN! Your health depends on it.

thank you Trina! You have summed it up beautifully! What a variety of drinks you have in the US! KoolAid is typically something not stored in the UK.. will have to visit the US and bring a suitcase full home! Thank you for your encouragement! Now off to get a glass of damn filtered WATER!
Cheers!

I agree with you Josephine BUT, when after a clear pee I take a multivitamin (Berocca for the Europeans), my pee becomes an artificial shade of bright yellow, for the next two/three pees! And remember the pink pee after eating beetroots!!! (I wonder what would produce a blue pee! - ink???).

Cheers,
Vim
