Unhappy Frustrated

Good Afternoon all,

I am writing in a very huge moment of frustration. I read all of the posts and get so very excited for everyone and I am not sure if I am where I should be. I am 7 weeks post op and have lost 33 lbs. Last week at my appointment, Kelly said I was right on track. The best news is my GERD and IBS are gone, but I feel frustrated with the lack of weight loss for the past 4 weeks (not one pound!). As the weeks creep by, my frustration mounts. Since my lifestyle is fairly sedentary, I began working out a couple of weeks ago and today was my first visit with a personal trainer. I am hoping that will kick-start my weightloss. Is there anyone out there that has gone through the same thing?

WAIT WAIT WAIT...Before you get frustrated...let me just say one thing. (I have said this before and I will say it again and again until we all stop feeling like crap because the numbers on the scale aren't going in a downward direction.) Have you measured yourself?? Like inches wise?? I have said before that sometimes when the numbers don't change that we should check the inches. I figure, that with the rapid weight loss, everything has to take a minute to relocate and move around. SO...my recommendation to you, myself, and anyone else having this problem is to get a tape measure and measure yourself. Keep track of the inches you have lost. This may make you feel better. Keep up the good work and keep the faith!!

Default I know how you feel!

I, too, have gone without losing a pound and I immediately posted on here and found that it's normal. I had the thought that I went through all this pain and expense and it's not working. WRONG! I start my 6th week out today and I've lost 43 lbs. I found, strangely enough, that I probably wasn't eating enough and put myself into starvation mode. I increased what I ate, increased my water and the pounds started melting off again. I have to keep telling myself that I can't possibly eat enough to gain weight anyway. I started keeping track of what I eat on Fitday.com and it really helps. It's actually difficult for me to get in enough nutrition.
Everyone loses at different rates. Like the others have said, use the tape measure and don't rely on the scale too much. My husband had to hide our scale because there were days that I would get on it more than once. I was making myself crazy. Have you noticed a difference in how your clothes fit yet? I lost in my face and shoulders first. I think my belly is holding on for dear life, but eventually I'll win the battle.
Keep posting on here. These ladies and gentlemen know what they're talking about. They've kept me sane for these few weeks.
Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I can only hope that things will begin looking up soon. Yes, I have noticed a huge difference in my clothes. It is so amazing! I didn't even think about eating more food. I can hardly find time to eat the things that I do eat! It's amazing, sometimes it seems like I work longer hours now that I don't take extented lunches or leave early for "happy hours". Thanks again.

You have lost 33 lbs and will continue to lose more!!!!! Don't worry, IT WILL HAPPEN! Make sure that you're drinking plenty of water and no juices or calorie drinks except a protein drink. Eat protein....avoid crackers type food and starchy stuf overall. Stick with protein, protein, protein and 64 oz of water a day. Walk, walk, walk. You're going to be just fine....you'll see. You're probably the type who loses in chunks of weight but the inches will continue to fall off along with your clothes. Hang in there!

Default Also Very Frustrated!!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this so please forgive me if I am doing this wrong. I had surgery on June 8th and have since lost 24 pounds which I think is not enough. I have not lost any wieght since June 30th. I exercise two times a day on my recumbent bike 30 minutes each time. I drink a lot of water and have my protein drink in the morning. What my question is what am I doing wrong?? why has my scale not moved? also my period is also due in 8 days. Please advise me.

Thanks

I just finished a 5 week plateau so I know how you feel. I did lose inches during this time I tried more exercise ,eating more and nothing helped except time. Now i'm going to be 10 weeks out and last week 5lbs came off. I know its hard just hang in there.

Default Thank you so much!

All,

Thanks for the wonderful words of encouragement. It has been a very rough weekend. I was hoping to make the picnic but became ill after breakfast. It was wonderfule to meet a few of you on the Saturday morning walk. By noon I was in bed sick from lunch. It seems my pouch is very sensative right now and I can only handle protein drinks and soft foods. I have heard this is common and hope it will pass in a couple of days. Wish me luck!

I Am Glad I Am Not The Only One In Plateau Mode. I Am Going On Week Number 4. At This Time I Am Trying To Think Of The Weight That I Have Lost. I Do Get Down When I Read Of Others Losing More Weight Than Me And Had Sx After. I Do Remember That Kelly States That I Am On The Average List And Have Had No Complications So I Guess I Can Count My Blessing.
