Default Fast food and what to eat

So now I am at the stage where I may have to eat out. I am finding this very difficult. My question to everyone is where do you like to eat out at and what do you eat their. I have tried beans from taco bell. Mexican rest. I am having a problem finding something that agrees with me. I would just like everyone's input on different places to help me out next time when I can't pack my lunch!!!! I love this site and thanks to everyone. I live in Georgia and I told my doctor from Emory about this website and he said he was going to check it out, that it sounded wonderful!!!

I like Wendy's, they have baked potato, and a kids meal you can order oranges instead of fries, and milk instead of soda.

I ate Kentucky fried chicken's mashed potatos and gravy, and their macaroni and cheese.

Mexican food, I ate beans and cheese with chips, later I began to eat cheese enchilada ranchera. When we were allowed, don't remember, it was early though, before we could have veggies. I remember telling the waiter I couldn't have his yummy carrots yet.

Default Suzanne,

Fish is always a good choice. Shrimp is really high in protein, my favorite when dining out. Steak is my second favorite.

Experiment in the privacy of your home first before you test it out somewhere and then find you need a bathroom for a half hour.

Everyone is different - I'm still learning. Good luck!

Ugh, mashed potatoes and gravy or mac n cheese make me sick I really like those little snackers from KFC. Just the perfect size for me on the run.

I can do a taco from taco bell. A single regular cheesburger is okay too, but not from In and Out. I lived off of Wendys chili for a long time.

Whatever you try, get the smallest size you can or share.

I like Carls Jr. (in Georgia it is probably Hardee's) BBQ chicken Sandwich, I take the top piece of bread off and then eat 1/2 of what is left. I know that it is low if calories and hight in protein. It is a very, very healthy choice.

I also have gotten the kids meal at KFC Chicken. I don't know if they have that in georgia or what it would be called. But it comes with a chicken drum stick and a side of cole slaw and or any other side you want and can eat. It comes also with apple sause but I didn't want to take the risk of sugar.

I can do a burrito from Taco Bell, or chicken nuggets from Wendy's, or the baked potato. I try not to eat out, but sometimes it is necessary. I still haven't had a burger from a fast food joint in over a year, though. Sometimes I'll just get the grilled chicken and remove the bun. Like the others have said, it's really just trial and error.

I just had a club chalupa from taco bell. I threw out the shell and had the chicken, bacon, cheese, and lettuce. At kfc, I get one chicken strip and green beans or mashed potatos. I had long john silvers one day and felt like crap! McDonalds I get a grilled chicken sandwich and throw away the bun and get a pack of hot mustard nugget sauce (yum!). I have tried burgers without the bun but I really don't like them. Arby's I get a market frsh turkey bacon ranch sandwich and give my daughter half and again throw away the bread. I use to live on fast food but now I don't like it much at all. If you have a cracker barrel in your area they have a shrimp kids meal that I get with green beans, but that is definately not fast food. A lot of the time anymore, I just get an iced tea and wait until I get home.

Hi Suzanne -

One more good idea is to check out some of the fast food chain websites for nutirtional info. I know we can't eat much, but some of the calorie counts, even divided into 8 servings, are scary!

I found that the things I thought were "healthier" often were the worst choices. And armed with the nutritional info I can at least select the "lesser of the evils" when I don't have better options.
