Default Help

I need some advice, I had my surgery on April 26th and I have found lately I am having trouble holding down foods, even foods that I have had before. I throw up. I have gone back to soaps which stay down, but don't want to live like this forever, any advice on why the food isn't staying down, I am eating slow, and following the rules! I go to the doctor tomorrow but would like to know if anyone has had this problem!!

Make sure you tell your doc! You could have a stricture which is not allowing food/liquids to get into your pouch. I had it and got it fixed and have had no problems since. I know you know to slow down and chew, chew, chew but I also know it is easy to forget. So give that a try until you see the doc tommorrow. Good luck! Please let me know how you are doing.

Suzanne,

Sounds like that was what was happening to me. The last 2 weeks, it seems I did not want to eat anything, smelled & looked horrible, mostly nausea and some dry heaving (nothing there to come up, sorry TMI) . Went back to soups and some cereals, but alot of crushed ice. Kelly (the nurse prac) thought it could possibly be an ulcer on the surgical opening. Got a couple of more meds, Reglan & something else for stomach acid and I've felt much better since.

But I still can't eat some things I was already eating. I have to hope, from everybody's advice here, that this is a phase, and we will get our taste back. Hopefully soon.

Let us know what the doctor says...

Hi Suzanne
I am 6 weeks post op and after eating fairly easily I started having a harder time. I kinda forced things for a couple of days which resulted in a little vomiting and I could not eat some of the things I had been eating. After a couple days on soft foods and really taking it easy I could go back to the other stuff. I think my opening just got irritated.
