Default Amost 3 weeks out and maybe a little bummed out?

Hi everyone! I will be 3 weeks out this coming Tuesday. I have had a great recovery, my pouch tolerates chicken, chili, refried beans, cottage cheese and eggs and I love my Isopure Dutch Chocolate protein drink (only drinking 1 per day now, 4 oz) I am getting about 60 grams of protein per day and I am drinking almost 70 ounces of water a day, 3 meals and a couple smalls snacks of a Baby Bell Light cheese. I lost a total of 17 pounds the first week, the second week only 1 pound and this past week only 1 pound..the scale has not moved for me in almost a week now! My nutritionist said this is very normal...I am even walking 30 minutes a day on my treadmill going 1 mile...I wasn't much of an exerciser before surgery so this is pretty good for me.

Is this the kind of weight loss other's have experienced? I thought I'd lose more the first month...kinda bummed out, happy to have lost the 19 though, just curious as to what others were going through. Also I kind of over did it on the refried beans a couple times...only ate 1/2 cup but got too full, then didn't get nauseous thank the Lord but got EXTREMELY SLEEPY and had to lie down and sleep for about an hour - has that happened to anyone else? Is that dumping? I thought dumping was only from sugar...okay any advice will be appreciated!
Hugs everyone!
Carolyn

Up your protein and fluids.

Shoot for over 80 or more in protein and 80-100 ounces of calorie free liquids.

That should kick start things again!

First off congrats on your weight loss and your new life-style! I think the first month I lost maybe 24-25 lbs (my stats are on my work computer). I know it's hard to imagine eating so LITTLE and not losing MORE weight...but it's just the way people are made. At first your body goes into "starvation mode" and holds onto everything you're giving it...but as you continue to eat it'll realize that they'll be more food coming along.

Keep doing what you've been doing and you'll be a skinny minnie before ya know it! And 19 lbs is nothing to sneeze at!!!

I checked my chart and 19 pounds is exactly what I lost my first 3 weeks out. 28 for the full first month. (I was a scale whore back then) Maybe next week there will be a sudden loss for you.

Also, your cycle (my cycle anyway) seems to have a lot to do with my losses. A week before, NADA. During, NADA. Then 4 days in, or when it's over and my water weight stabilizes, suddenly it could be as much as 7 pounds down.

Congrats on 19 pounds! Remember, any loss is better than the gain before WLS.

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!

I lost 15 lbs the first month.

Mike's suggestion is excellent.

Vary your exercising - don't do the same thng every day. I can give you tons of ideas about that.

Look at the BIG picture - this time is one to change your relationship with food and therefore chnge your life. Just follow your guidelines and it will happen. And we will tweak you along the way.

The best of luck to you!

Default just curious?

My surgery was open. I was home in 2 days ans am feeling alive. Hey give me a break, I just had surgery! My problem is is that my back is killing me all of the time. Never had problems like this before and I'm assuming it's from standing upright and moving around differently? I don't know. I am bruised all over due to shots and I.V.'s and I'm waiting for the gas to begin. The nurse said if no BM by Sun, to take the M.O.M. to get things moving? Liquids and full liquids going down okay but my family is stunned that a talblespoon and I feel alot of pressure. I guess it's all new. Any how how long before the bloated tightness in the ribs goes away.

If you are concerned, you should call your surgeon's office. Keep in mind that your guts have been re arranged, and you're going to be sore for awhile. Do you have your binder from surgery? WEAR it..it will help with the back pain, and help you to not get a hernia like someone we all know.....it might help with the tightness as well.
Best of luck on your journey, you know we're here with you every step of the way...

I just wanted to comment on the slow weight loss issue. I too can go for 2-4 days without any changes and sometime even long. Then all the sudden I will loss 3 pounds or so. My body just works that way so your might be similar. We all loss at a different speed but the most important thing is that we loss. You seem to be doing all the right things so keep up the great work and it will come off.
