Talking Silly concern about WLS

Ok, this is probably really silly but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if they had to have a catheter after Lap RNY or were you allowed to get up and go to the bathroom? I'm really squicked by the thought of being cath'd and am wondering about it. I'm a big baby!

I had Lap RNY and yes I had to have a catheter. However, they did not put it in until I was under anesthesia. So, no biggie. Taking it out is also no biggie if you just relax. I am a real big baby too and honestly this was not a big deal. I also had to have a catheter when I had an emergency c-section 7 years ago and I was not under anesthesia when they put it in (again no biggie). The key is to RELAX.

I had a catheter also, which was inserted during the surgery. When I woke up, (and I still didn't know what planet I was on) they said "ok, you're awake, let's get rid of this catheter and go to the bathroom." It didn't hurt at all. Looking back now, they could have poked 9000000 holes in me and had 4 miles of tubes out of me and I'd still have the surgery.

Thank goodness for catheters. Anesthesia always makes me go and if I had to get up every 5 minutes, I would drive everyone nuts. They put it in when you are under anesthesia and when they take it out, it doesn't hurt a bit.

I had lap and they put a catheter in after I was out. It stayed in during my 1 and a half day ICU stay. Never felt it and didn't feel it when the nurse took it out - just a little humiliated! No biggie!

A catheter is the least of your problems.

I had a catheter and it fell out when I got to recovery. I had to use the bedpan like every 10 minutes.....what a pain!

I know the catheter is the least of my problems - but one can't help our silly concerns!
