Default Slower than you're supposed to be?

It's not that nothing is going down. It's just that I don't seem to be able to add anything. It'll be 4 weeks tomorrow, and I still can't keep down anything besides liquids, instant mashed potatoes, cream soup, cheese grits, yogurt & sugar-free applesauce. According to my doctor's schedule, I'm supposed to be able to eat a lot more than that right now.

I try new things, and they sit in my stomach like a lead weight for about 5 minutes, then come back up.

Was anyone else slow to be able to add food?

Honey Bun,
I'd call my doc and ask him/her what she/he thinks about this. I hope it's not a stricture lovey....take care of yourself! SMOOCH

Every doctor is different, but at 4 weeks, I was still on soft foods. I would advise not to fight it. Just stick to the foods that work for you right now and don't worry about it. Worry will only make you feel worse. If you are concerned, do check with your doctor, but there are still times, although not often, that I go on soft foods for a day or two just to get my pouch turned back in the right direction.

I've heard others on here talk about strictures early on so you might want to search on that term and see what you come up with. Not to scare you but it might be something to read up on.

If your worried about it call your doctor. If nothing else it will make you worry less. Are you able to get liquids down? It seemed like for several months I went back and forth being able to eat soft foods sometimes and only fluids others.

Default Thanks

I knew that this might not be "normal", so much - but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't the only one.

I get liquids down - though cold water (or anything) can cramp my stomach. I do have a problem with liquids - but it's my own lack of consistancy, and frankly, I've ALWAYS had a problem getting enough liquids down. So I know I'm very short on them. And protein too - because I just can't find one that I like. Or can even tolerate. (I even ordered the Nectar, but am not finding I like it very much.)

I stuck to mushy vegies for quite a while and liquids, about three weeks. It is very normal by my standards. My nutritionist told me it was normal and I was just adjusting slowly. She said everyone adjusted at different paces. I still have a hard time handling any meat that is not extremely tender. I would also call the doc though cuz a stricture is possible. I asked the same question and they said it was unlikely being so soon out. But calling is better than worrying. Good luck hun
