Dude I would still want so much more then a simple I am sorry. This I am sorry could have cost you your life especially with them telling you the pain was normal. I don't care what there counting of instruments procedure is. If he knew the needle broke and the thread went one way and the needle went the other, then common sense would be to locate the damn broken needle. Hello you aren't just stitching up a stuffed animal here it is a human being !!!!!! Glad you are ok though.

Wow! What a totally negligent act. I understand if you don't want to sue, but I think that you should pursue getting any deductable's or co-pays back. Another thing you might consider is letting the insurance Co. know what happened. They can probably put a lot more pressure on the hospital for permanant change. The most important thing is that you are all right. Keep getting better! ((((hugs))))

Yes, I totally agree with Jon here.. do NOT let them sweep this under the rug with a simply "Oops, sorry."

I understand if you're not the 'sue' type- me either- but you need to make sure that the hospital SOP changes so this doesn't happen to someone else!

Well, I don't have any co-pays or deductibles to worry about guys, otherwise I totally would be throwing a wall-eyed (sp?) fit in there, believe me!
AND...they are changing their SOP's...I made that point very clear that they NEED to change their SOP's. My mother is a nurse and was an OR nurse and I used to work for a home health care agency as a wound nurse's assistant...I'm not a dummy and refuse to let them bully me.
I don't really care to sue them because there was no long term troubles caused so it would do me no good to sit in court for months and pay for lawyers and what not just to win money out of spite. I wouldn't feel right about that. Now don't get me wrong, had they shown up to the appointment with a lawyer and not admitted any kind of fault at all..oh my next stop would have been JAG.

Thank you all for well wishes!

It's fine..it's over...I'm just glad they found it and took it out and I feel a WHOLE LOT better today. My incision is just sore now...WOOT!

WOW!!! What a crappy thing to have to go through...I'm glad that you are okay now!!! Please tell me that they at least mentioned something about the medical costs being covered at the very least?!?!? (If not a little extra $$$...you are going to need a whole new wardrobe soon! )

Im so glad figured out what was wrong with you. Someone needs to pay more attention to what they are doing! I hope your surgeon lets him know without any excuse that it cannot be tolerated. That a slip up like that could cost a life.
I m glad your feeling better. Sorry you had to go through so much.
