You are doing so great!!
Hey girl!!
How are you doing? Where do you do your workouts? And do you think that you have added weight via muscle? You are doing so good.
I have to be honest, I have not worked out due to the fact that I do not want to add any weight. I know it is good to add muscle but I got to get over my fears I guess.
Let me know how you are doing!!
Take care,
Davey

Davey,
Go for working out... you're not going to gain weight - I promise! If anything you'll redistribute the weight you have into lean muscle, therefore giving you even more of a boost at burning fat and calories. Plus like Rain mentioned in her last post - you'll tighten up and just feel better!!! I say go for it, it's such a misconception that you will gain weight or women will bulk up lifting weights - it's only good for you!!!

Hi Meaghan,
Thanks for the reply. Part of the deal is that all my life I have been the big guy. I used to play college ball, and wrestled in high school. I have power lifted when I was younger. So mentally I have this desire to be the skinny guy for once in my life.
You would think I would know better than most on how to work-out but it is all mental right now. I am enjoying being thinner. But with that said, I know that I need to work out to keep healthy.
I guess I am waiting to get to a certain weight point, what that is I don't know, and then I will start working out. Who knows what I am thinking?!
Thanks,
Davey

workout
My question was though how soon after surgery should you begin a workout program. I don't feel good everyday yet and but would like to do something. So, if anyone has any ideas that would be great.
Thanks
Vicki

Vicki,
I was told to walk immediately after surgery. Some days I was slow, others were better - but there is no need to push yourself if you don't feel well, just move as much as you can.
After my 6 week appointment (which was really only 5 weeks after surgery) my doc said it was okay to resume all previous activity, which I did the next day... met with my trainer and was able to do the same weights and ab exercises. Since that day I've done high intensity interval cardio 3 x a week and lifting weights 2 x a week (which I'll soon do 3 x a week again).

I think and you may want to check on this. But I think the magic rule is 6 months out for OPEN people to do stomache stuff.
But I know that everything else is ok from your first check up on. I have been walking since 2 months before surgery and never stopped. I would just not do any sit ups for a while until you talk to the doctor yourself and he/she tells you, you are clear to do stomache excersies....

This is what I know.
Begin working out @ 4 weeks, with the exclusion of abdominals. @ 3 months for lap and 4 months for open you can begin abs.
Hope this helps!
