Unhappy Weightloss Stall

I had lap rny January 27, 2005. I went in to surgery weighing 248 pounds and I am now between 196-198. I am a little concerned because my weightloss has stalled, I have not lost anything in 3 weeks.

It happens! Its called a plateau and it happens to everyone all the time. Try to switch things up a bit, uptake calories if you can, keep them up for about 3 days and then go back to your normal caloric intak. Often times your body wiill "think" its starving and "hold" onto nutrients... caveman theory. Eat eat eat. Add an extra mini meal for 3 days. Switch your exercise routine or start doing brief walks for 20 mins if you can. Im sure you will break the dreaded plateau in no time! Good luck.

You should have an idea of how many calories you consume. Try this, think about what you usually eat in a day, you can go to www.fitday.com and put in amounts to see how many calories, grams of protein, etc you are getting.

Tell me this: what is a typical day of eating for you? Do you eat breakfast, what types/kinds of foods are you eating and when...

love your friend the know it all... lol Just joking, I want to help ya over this hump!

for breakfast, I slice the bagel in half and then I cut the piece in half with a little cream cheese. I hope this makes sense. I may have a mid-morning snack of a few crackers with cheese. For dinner I may eat 2 ounces of meat and maybe a little salad or a little macaroni and cheese.

Default Whoa

You sure are consuming alot of carbs. Protein first, veggies second then carbs.

I would switch up your meals a bit. You should try and consume at least 40 grams a day, anywhere from 40-100 is good intake.

For breakfast, I have a small bowl of oatmeal or 3 slices of bacon and a string cheese, or a protein shake.

Lunch I would have cottage cheese with spaghetti sauce on top and crisp pepperoni pices to dip it in. Or I will have a chicken breast and grilled veggies or sushi or lettuce wraps even.

Dinner is pretty much the same.

I eat in between meals as I get routinelt hungry. Around 10:30 I will have almond and or string cheese and again at 3:00.

There is a thread under nutrition where people have recorded what they eat everyday, check it out and get some ideas!

I definitely think if you eliminate the carb intake and increase the protein, you will see some drastic results! Good luck!

I agree with Bridget. Decreasing some of the carbs from your diet will probably help boost your weight loss. Carbs are not bad...as long as they are complex carbohydrates like the kind you get from veggies and fruit.

Not to make light of your situation, because I know it's frustrating when your weight stalls, but I just came out of a plateau that lasted TWENTY weeks. That was so frustrating! (I'm a year and a half out, so my body was probably going through a major adjustment phase.)

I realized that 1) I wasn't eating ENOUGH food and my body was probably in starvation mode. 2) I needed to drink more water. 3) I can't eat past 7 pm at night and still lose weight. 4) Sometimes, no matter what I try, my weight will stall while my body tries to catch up with all the drastic changes it is going through.

You will start losing again soon! Don't lose heart!
