Thumbs up I'm home and doing great!

Well, I got home around noon yesterday and am doing great. I can't imagine how the experience could have gone any better. I'm having no trouble getting the fluids in (as long as I don't take the LorTab 'cuz it makes me sleep for about 4 hours). I've switched to Tylenol for pain so that I am not a zombie. No major pain, no nausea, no hunger....everthing is good. I've been walking quite a bit since it is actually more comfortable to stand than it is to sit down.

I do have a question for you other post ops who had their procedure done LAP, about how long does it take for the incisions to heal? My bra keeps rubbing on the upper incision and the one near the naval is right under my waist band. The incisions were closed with absorbable sutures inside and dermabond on the outside.

Thanks!

Angela

Glad you're doing so well! welcome to Loserville! I had th open but had trouble with my bra rubbing the top of my incision. The only advice I can give is take it off and go without. Thats what I did. If I had to go somewhere I had a soft cotton sports bra (not much support) that didn't bother me too bad. Good Luck and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Angela,

Well I am only out 3 weeks and my incissions all healed up pretty quick except the one right under my bra, and it is just now closing up pretty good. everyone is different in the healing, I do know that for some reason although my pants are now baggie and all, I can't stand the waist up where it belongs. When I am at home and not in the publics eye I roll my pant waist under my tummy for comfort, I sure hope this passes as it is a bit tacky. lol.

(((((Hugs))))) again welcome home and am so glad you are doing well.

Sue

Hi Sue,

Good to hear that you are doing better and that the incisions heal pretty quick. I only have one that is still a bit tender (does not look infected at all, but it is pretty bruised and swollen). I have also started rolling the pants down while at home...there's still a lot of air in my tummy so very few of my pants fit comfortably. It is in the 90s here and I'm running around in sweat pants because they are the only things I have with a comfy waist band.

((((Hugs)))) back at ya.

Hi Rick,

I don't feel like drinking it either but also don't want to get dehydrated and have to go back to the hospital. I bought 4 - 16oz rubbermaid drink containers and fill them up in the morning. (one each for: protein, ice water, diluted juice, crystal light--or other liquid). The total of all of these is 64 oz. When I get bored with one I switch to another (except protein that I drink 2 oz. every 1.5 - 2 hours). I also suck on ice alot when nothing else is appealing.

Everything is insanely sweet and has that sugar substitute aftertaste. I've tried popsicles and jello but they were just gross. I'm going out shopping today to see if I can find either of those made with splenda to see if they taste better. I have to dilute the crystal lite and juice with a lot of water to drink it. I did pick up some propel water yesterday and will try it today to see how it tastes instead of crystal lite. I am already tired of fruity stuff but haven't found a good soup base that I like. I've read on other posts that miso soup and wonton soup (minus the wontons) are good at this point so I might try some of those today. If I find anything good I'll let you know...

Isn't it weird to not be hungry after not eating for so long?

Thanks for any help that you can give. I think that I may be dehydrated. I haven't had a BM since the day before the surgury. I am having a bit of trouble with the milk based products so I need another source of protien.

Can't help with the bra thing, but I just wanted to say congrats...and you can just send those Lortabs my way.

I'm glad you are doing well.

Hey Rick,

I found a recipe that Bridget posted on another thread that uses orange crystal light as the liquid with vanilla protein powder. I have Jay Robb egg white vanilla (not too tasty but also not milk based) and tried it....it was not too bad. I'm going to pick up some creamy vanilla Isopure powder today and see if it is better with the orange drink. I'll let you know.

Default Same Prob w/the Bra!

Try putting a bandaid loosly over the incision right under the bra... it really helped me when I HAD to wear a bra. Otherwise, let 'er rip and let them puppies loose!

I was even sleeping on my side within a week and a half or so! You'll be healed in no time!
