Default Questions about Vitamin C.

I am about three weeks out having had my RNY LAP on the 21rst of last month. Before my surgury I was taking 4000 mg of vitamin C daily. It did wonders for me with my teeth, gums, and general well being. I have had no problems what so ever with the RNY, My question is that now I am on the "BARIATIC ADVANTAGE vitamins . They have 120 mg Ascorbic acid which I don't think is near enough. Regular Ascorbic acid is in horse pill sizes but I am afraid to grind it with applesause because it is a acid. Ascorbic acid has a reputation of stomach upset but I was not bothered before surgery. The buffered kind are also horse pills and if they were ground they would loose the coated buffering. Liquid would probably be just as hard on your stomach as ground. So-- What do you use?? Does anyone have any thoughts on Vitamin C?? The USDA set the standard at 60mg daily back in the late 1940's ao their standards are hopelessly out of date. Comments please, Captain Hornet.

The recommendation for Vitamin C after wls is 500mg. I take the chewable vitamin C and take it with my iron. Vitamin C will help with the absorption of iron.

I actually get more than 500mg. The iron I take has 60mg right along with it to help with absorption and my multi-vitamin has 180 mg.

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin so you can't get too much of it.

Here is a link to a thread that discusses the kinds of vitamins, forms and dosages that are recommended post wls.

Vitamins-How much? What kind?
