I was told to stay under 14 grams of sugar. I had the beginnings of a dump on 8 grams (from low fat yogurt), so I stay under that amount. But that's me, I am not sugar tolerant.
Isopure Dutch Chocolate has zero sugar, 50 grams protein, 220 cals. (mixed with 12 oz. water).

I recently started drinking soy milk....after surgery I became lactose intolerant. Regular milk makes me sick as a dog now.
I had a hard time finding soy milk that didn't have sugar added. I read every label at Walmart, and only found one that didn't (it's sweetened with Splenda instead). Even the plain flavors I looked at had sugar. Ick.
The one I bought tastes pretty decent. I don't think I could drink it straight, but if I throw some frozen berries into my shake, it's all good.

Did you become lactos intolerant right away? I was worried that I would be, but then milk goes down just fine. I am kind of waiting for the other show to drop, like all of a sudden I'm going to wake up lactose intolerant.

Sherry,
What is the brand of soy milk that you bought with the Splenda? I think I'll get some this weekend if my WalMart has it.

If you are worried about lactose intolerance you can use Lactaid (or similar) brand milk. DH is highly lactose intolerant and it works great for him.

I'm not quite sure, because I had the diarrhea and upset stomach so much the first 3 weeks or so anyway. I now suspect it was from being lactose intolerant. I'm quite sure I am now though...I tested myself with milk a couple of times to be sure, and I got sick as a dog.

It's called Soy Slender, and it comes in vanilla and chocolate. It's not in the refrigerated section, it's actually in a box on the shelf. I found it in the section of the groceries where protein bars, and the diet stuff is.

Wow, I am feeling very very lucky! I haven't gone through hell week, I'm still my normal self, Everything I drink goes down just fine, haven't thrown up anything yet (knock on wood!). I'm not lactose intolerant, I guess the real test will come on Tuesday when I start with the pureed foods! I was expecting a much more difficult journey than this. So far it hasn't been bad!

Awesome! I had a great time like that too. I'm so happy you are doing great. And when you switch to pureed, you'll do fine. Just take it slow...a little at a time.
