Hey, feeling good and doing great!
Hi everyone. Well it has been 7 days since surgery and I am doing well. I have been following my paperwork.
I have been able to tolerate everything that I am supposed to be trying to get in. Here's what day 3-4 looked like:
4 oz of CIB made with FF Milk (at wake)
1/4 cup of Cream of wheat made with milk (1 1/2 hrs. later)
4 oz. of CIB (at 1 1/2 hrs. later)
2 oz. of yogurt (1 1/2 hrs. later)
2 oz pudding (3 hrs. later)
4 oz. CIB (1 1/2 hrs. later)
1/4 cup Cream of Chicken soup made with milk (1 1/2 hrs. later)
2 oz. of pudding or yogurt (1 1/2 hrs. later)
There is supposed to be another CIB in there before bedtime but I can't make it. All this is supposed to provide 32 oz. of fluid, approx. 45 grams of protein and 700 calories. Of course throughout the day I am drinking Crystal Lite and water also.
Now at 5 days out and current, my intake is the same as above but have increased everything to 4 oz as tolerated and I have included 1 bottle of Isopure throughout the day.
That is the schedule that I am supposed to stick to for 3 weeks. Then at week 4 I add in pureed/soft foods. I see my doctor on the 7th of August and I am going to ask him if I can move in to phase 2 one week earlier.
As for walking, I have walked very minimally around the house until today. Hubby and I took a long walk around the neighborhood WITHOUT MY CANE! It felt real good but I sure was tuckered out when I got back home. We are gonna do this every day from now on and move from the neighborhood to our local park.
As for pain, not much at all. I do have one spot below the belly button that at times I get a sharp pain but I just stop, take a deep breath, and I'm good to go.
This may be TMI, but my bowel movements are still loose but I figure since I'm not really intaking anything real solid that's what I have to put up with for now.
But as you can see, I AM GOING WELL!
I was able to lose 21 lbs. on my pre-op diet and I haven't weighed myself today, but the other day it looks like I have lost another 10 lbs. Total so far is 31 lbs. This is what enabled me to let go of my CANE!
Oh, so sorry that this is so long winded, but I am excited that all is going well and my health is improving.
Thanks for listening!!!

Simply awesome!
I'm looking forward to my experience at the same. You are alieviating some of my fears, and your an inspiration to me. Keep up the good work, and don't push yourself too fast with the foods.
Thanks!

Oh Big Dog that seems like a far distance for me right now. Do you realize how far???? I am south of Palm but that sure sounds like a great milestone to reach for. We'll have to see.
