Default Birthday Cake

Hi All The last time I posted, I was talking about how MUCH I can eat. Well this past weekend was my daughters 13th bday, and I hadnt tried anything with sugar since surgery *5.5mo*. I just wanted to see.. it wasnt that creamy yummy chocolate cake at all!! I didnt have alot. I ate quite a few fingerfulls of icing and a few bites of cake.. and just as I thought. I didnt dump.. I can eat as much fruit as I want too. I keep testing the waters, it isnt that I WANT to dump... I just want to know things are working like they should. Anyone out there like me?

I can eat cake in moderation. The key is moderation. I have been able to handle sugar since the start. Everyone is different and if you had sugar or dairy problems before than you will probably have them after.

The further out you get, your body starts to adapt to the foods you eat. It's a slippery slope to get on to try and tempt fate. Regardless of what you eat, it boils down to portion control and choosing healthier alternatives. Why start getting into the habit of try to eat as much sugar as you can? It can backfire on you quite quickly and next thing you know, you've just reversed the benefits of your bypass.

have a few bites until you are satisfied. Dont test the waters as dumping feels awful! Sometimes i can have a cookie, on other days and a different kind of cookie I will dump.. its awful. Just eat until you are satisfied, dont eat it just because you can. Think what is the nutritional value of this... if there is none, then just have a few bites and be over it. Thats what this surgery and your tool is all about. Figuring out what you can get away with is stinkin' thinkin' and not a healthy way of living. I will have a slice of cake from time to time. The difference between now and pre WLS, I dont always take. before I could never refuse! Love the new different you!

I haven't tried even a nibble of cake, candy, cookies, etc. I have this mental thing that if I have a bite, I'll feel like a total failure and the fear of regaining weight is too hard for me. It's all or nothing with me, and it sux from time to time. My husband will have a sugar-free cookie every once in a while, but I can't even do that. I'd love to get to that point where I can enjoy a taste of old favorites, but I just don't think I can.
