Welcome to the loser's bench!

I hope your recovery goes well.

Tom, I definitely understand what your saying about being cast into a certain role. I've always been the "big one" in my marriage and it won't be that way for long. People keep telling my DH that once women have this surgery and start losing a lot of weight that we get mean and leave our husbands. Ha! I reassure him it's not true, but it WILL be nice to not be the "big one" any longer.

It boggles my mind the things people think it is acceptable to say to others. Don't they realize that he is probably already feeling insecure? That stupid comments like this can add fuel to the fire if there are any problems at all?

People say things like this to my DH as well... "You'd better keep an eye on her!" etc. Like just because we've lost weight we're going to become some wanton harlot who forgets marriage vows.

Yeah, I know, it happens. There have been women who've done just that. Men, too, I suppose. But don't speak things like that into other people's marriages!

OK, that's my rant for the day...

My first post-op visit back to my office to pick up some papers.. happened about six weeks after surgery (didn't go back for eight).. and my fiancé came in with me... everyone was very excited to see me and had gathered around chatting.

One guy pipes up with "Geof, what are you going to do with she gets all sexy and the guys are all hitting on her?"

God love him, he put his arm around me and his reply was "What do you mean GETS sexy? She already IS sexy, always has been!"

People just don't stop and think about the impact their words can have on others, sometimes.

Jen, I agree with Beth.. and personally, I would say something to the surgeon at the minimum and make sure that anesthesiologist doesn't say something like that to one of his/her patients again.. VERY unprofessional!

discussion with the anesthesiologist was not only strange but pretty unprofessional.
Absoulutly! i would even mention that to your surgeon because it was too unprofessional. She should have just done her job and shut her skinny mouth and your surgeon should know because he can always choose not to work with her again

I go in on wednesday to get my staples out so I will talk to him about it then. Obviously she didn't change my mind, but she might make it worse on someone else in the future!
