Unfortunately, I completely know where you are coming from with the frequent UTI's! I have had at least one a month since I was 8 and the doctor's know nothing.
I carry some over the counter stuff in my purse and whenever I feel a little bit like one might be coming I take it. It is the generic version of Uristat, with is basically an Iodine pill, that cleans out your system and any bacteria sitting around, and I went from taking antibiotics monthly to maybe twice a year.
Also, since surgery, I can not drink cranberry juice either, but in the feminine hygeine section at walmart I found AZO cranberry tablets, and taking 1 is like drinking an 8 ounce glass of juice without the post surgery side effects.
I think I am too late to help this time but some suggestions for the future.
Also, for the first 2-3 months after surgery I was getting UTI's and burning more frequently. I spoke with my GBS surgeon who said our bodies can not filter and break down the acids we consume as well now and that leads to acids going out through our urine more. The same with proteins. This can lead to UTI's and she recommended that I not drink/eat any citrus and drink ounces of water with a cranberry tablet right before bed and it helped stop the post surgery increase so far.
Hope it helps!
