Cystex® is a great choice for managing your urinary tract infection (UTI) before you get to the doctor, as it is the only UTI medicine available over-the- counter that combines a pain reliever (sodium salicylate) with an effective antiseptic (methenamine) to help keep the infection from progressing. However, UTIs require a diagnosis by a healthcare provider along with a prescription treatment to clear up the infection, so you are strongly urged to see your physician. For more information, visit Cystex® Urinary Pain Relief Tablets for Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) - Cystex® Helps you Understand the Issues about Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs).

I have a urologist. I've had surgeries done to find out what's wrong, been to other specialtists at Stanford, and nobody knows anything. That's just the way I am they say and there isn't anything anybody can do.

I went to my pediatrician today and he couldn't test it because of the pyridium so we have to send it out to the lab and we will have results by tomorrow.

Catheter?! No way! I will live in pain the rest of my life rather than get another one of those. I've had them before, and there is no way on earth I would ever have one while I am awake. Nice idea though.

Believe me, if that were an option, I would have done it 18 years ago! It would have made life so much easier!!!

I have had them too since I was a toddler, quite misserable.
I did noticed, since I had the surgery, I get them way too often, had one just a few days ago, I do not like it, they limit life for the time been.
I wonder if all the extra vitamins and such are making this a problem now?

Have you noticed if you have them more frequent now?

Default uti after surgery

Oh! I know how horrible this is. I had an infection about 2-3 weeks after surgery. It was awful. I am also allergic to penicillian/amoxicillian and was prescribed some giant pill that is related to bactrim. I had to cut the pills up to take them. Ugh. For my UTi my doctor prescribed a liquid pain killer. Until the second day of the infection, I wanted to curl up and die. It was so painful. Luckily my first night I had a tiny bit of pain killer leftover from surgery, so I took it.

I wish you the best of luck. I think my uti was expecially horrible after surgery. Trying to push fluids and the pain, ugh, thinking about it almost hurts.

I was able to drink cranberry juice after surgery. I diluted it to about 50/50 with water. My gynecologist told me that cranberry juice is used to prevent the infection. It doesn't help much once the infection has set in.

I hope you feel better soon.

About Cranberry Juice.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I had an UTI and I told the doctor I would try to drink more cranberry juice. I had a study just before I told her this and she told me to not do that. She said, not everyones system is the same. In your case you need to drink Orange juice, if you drink Cranberry juice you will just make things worse.

So I would suggest talking to your doctor before you star shagging down the cranberry juice . You would not want to do more damage and not understanding why things getting worse.

I enjoy a little orange juice a couple times a week to help, maybe I should up it but I avoid juice as much as possible because of the empty calories.

Anywho, just thought I mention it since several people mentioned drinking Cranberry juice for UTI, something to consider.

I'm glad you found that medicine that is now available over the counter....my daughter has frequent UTIs and they NEVER happen when the dr is in the office.....thankfully they make it OTC now...

She has urinary reflux, her bladder doesnt fully empty and it can cause infection
