Default Help! I'm losing my hair!!

My hair is coming out in handfuls! I stand up from my chair at work and the whole back of my chair is covered. My hair is starting to feel really course and dry. I really, really try to shoot for 100g of protien a day, I dont always make it, but I'm really trying hard. I also take Biotin. What else can I do?

I was told in support group that you can't avoid hair loss. They said it was b/c of the low calorie intake, not protein. From what I understand, after surgery, you can't eat enough calories per day to keep it from happening. I may have misunderstood but that's what I think they were saying.

My doc told me if it is going to happen it will. He told me it is because of the rapid weight loss.

Hey peeps - hair loss is absolutely normal and usually happens from around month 3 through month 9 or so. Biotin and Nioxin shampoos are good starts, but that is outward...your nutrition starts inward. My doc mandated 100-120 grams of protein. It was really hard in the beginning to get to that goal, but after a few weeks, I figured out (for me) how to do it. I think I lost hair in the shower ONCE, and never had any more come out. It will stop, and it will grow back....

Personally, I think it is the speed of the weight loss, possibly combined with the trauma of surgery. I lost a lot of weight years ago on a very limited diet (about 600 cal a day) and believe me, I didn't worry about protein intake back then (or biotin, or anything else). I didn't lose any hair then even after losing 70+ pounds by basically starving myself. I lost the weight relatively quickly, maybe 3 pounds a week. But nowhere near as fast as some people on here are losing.

100 gr. protein per day? Wow, my guidelines are 50-70. Were other people told 100 gr.?

It comes back I am almost 18 months out and I have hair growth. I have all of these cute little 2 inch pieces that stick out everywhere lol

It was awful when I was going through it and I too cut my hair short( I donated 13 inches). You will notice more than others will, so try not to point it out or talk about it as if the world knows They don't!! They are all too busy checkin' out the new hottie that you have turned into!

Do I really want to be normal?? Having some body issues. Don't want to be too thin.

I started losing my hair a few weeks ago and it is still falling out, but at the same time I see new growths already, so it falls out but comes back in!

My doc said 100 grams MINIMUM, but that he would prefer to see me around 120 if I could do it. I could do 90-100 normally, and then when i started to work out, I could get the 120 in...
