I too have lost a lot of hair. Everyone keeps telling me the same thing. It will come back. Hang in there.

I gave up on my hair loss. It is coming out by the handfulls, but I think by now everyone here convinced me this is normal and that it will grow back up, and trust me, I am holding everyone to it lol.

I also cut my hair and donated 14 inches, figured might as well let someone get some good use of it. I can't wait until it grows back up.

Funny thing, I was so overweight that I had already lost hair before surgery, not this fast offcourse, but I know it was because of my weight condition, so if I was gonna loose it anyway, I take it the thin way

Hang in there.

I know just as soon as I type these words, mine will start falling out by the handful. But as of right now (knock on wood) I haven't lost the first hair. As a matter of fact, my daughter commented this week about how much healthier my hair looked. I did just get a hair cut, but I keep mine pretty short, normally.

My hair is about to fall out from chemo anyways, so I am going to just shave it off this weekend! I would rather lose my hair on my own terms :P

I'm glad you posted this thread, because I was about to post something like this too. I didn't have any initial hair loss post op but now I'm 4 months out and its coming out 3 times what it was before. And I have long hair so it looks like a ton. I always thought that it happened right away and that you were fine, but I guess it really happens around where I am post op. Not so worried anymore I guess. Just have to up the protein and calories.

Default To perm or not to perm....

Hi all

I started losing my hair at about 4 months post op and am still losing about 5-10 strands a day now. I had quite thick hair (straight)to start with but it does feel quite thinner now. I really want to perm it - in fact I am thinking about doing this over the next few days - but I am worried that this will increase the hair loss - any one out there permed their hair post op? Any advice?

Default another victim

I thought to myself.. oh no hair loss I asm safe because I lost 50 lbs the first month due to complications I had and only thirty something the next two and half. Well I didn;t realize there was a point you meet where it happens I met it last week. I am totally bummed more then I thought I would be as I have really really thick hair it use to take two hours to roll it for a perm. I like it lessened but I want it to stop now.

I am going to go get me some nioxin and if I up my protein is that gaurenteed to stop it??

Thanks

Angela

Supposedly nothing is guaranteed from what I hear but it couldn't hurt to try. My friend said upping the protein slowed hers down. I am losing mine but haven't been diligent about upping my protein. I get about 60 grams a day, Maybe not enough.

Default thanks

Thanks Lanette for your reply I suppose nothing is gaurenteed and apprantly my hair is still very thick as it took the lady about an hour to cut it and layer it short and style it. she said she would not think I lost hair if she didn't see all that came out of the drain. Nice huh? I got it cut and I think it looks super sexy and so did my husband (wink, wink lol) so at least in that way it is a good thing.

I decided to not get the nioxin as the lady says it will dry it out fierce and I don't need that since I won;t go bald I will just have to make sure I clean the drains after showers.
