Unhappy I don't feel so good!

5 days post-op and I'm still have issues with water. When I was in the hospital it wasn't so bad, but since I've been home everytime I take a sip I just want to throw up. I feel so sick. I've tried cold, and not cold, bottled, and not bottled. I've tried crystal light, and propel, but it's just too much for my new little part. I seem to only get in about 10-15 ounces per day and that's when I keep a cup in my hand and try very hard. I can tolerate about 2oz of pudding or yogurt no problem, and I feel somewhat decent afterwards. I'm going to try some decaf peppermint tea, and some broth and see if I can get in liquids that way. I'm on the full liquid diet, and don't start purees for 2 or 3 more weeks. Anybody else have the same problem? I know I need more water, I know I need more protein, but it's not happening. I feel like I'm down the road to failure, and hospitalization, and my family is having roast for dinner.

Oh Laura sweety, I'm sorry. It was very hard for me too, to get in enough fluids. Keep working at it and ask the Dr. how little is too little? Keep a look out for the signs of dehydration.
My DH is one week post op and can drink like a fish. I don't get it. This will pass, you're in my prayers.

Aww. I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling yucky and having a hard time with the fluids. Try to remember that a lot of new post-ops complain about this very same thing. I would try the popsickle if you haven't already done so.

As for the roast that the rest of the family is having...you have my sympathies.

I am soo sorry
I had a really hard time with water too. I know I still don't get in enough water but the one thing that really helped me was crushed ice. Not sure if you have a Sonic drive thru around you but they sell bags of crushed ice for super cheap and I lived off of that.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I don't think I kept anymore down than what you are doing. Just do your best and do what you can. Watch for signs of dehydration and keep in close contact with the DR if you feel bad.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS on your surgery!! How exciting! I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. We've all been there...they wouldn't call it hell week if it was fun.

When I was first out, I had trouble with liquids too. I just couldn't force myself to drink and drink and drink. It just seemed like a hassle. I did do better with broths than water. It seemed easier, and less of a "I must drink this now". What really saved me were the sugar free Popsicles. I'm on pureed/solid foods now, and I still resort back to then to ensure I'm getting more fluids without truly thinking about it. And, they are GOOD for being sugar free. I usually have to fight my younger sister off of them.

Hopefully this helped some. Feeeel better!
