Default I hate everything that's good for me!

Any recipe advice for someone who can't stand cottage cheese, yogurt, beans, veggies (except for broccoli and zucchini), and fruit? What's left for me to eat except bad carb foods? I really want to eat healthy...I just don't know how

Have you tried any of the things that you use to not like before. I know after I had WLS my tastes has changed A LOT, and some of the things I hated I now love and get enough of. Sorry I can't be of more help to you. I would also suggest do a google search for healthy foods you can make with the vegi's you do like and fruit.

I hate to be a party pooper but maybe you're being too picky.
That's a wide range of things to hate honey.

I'm not a big meat eater but I don't HATE anything except ground beef, hotdogs, and bologna. I can understand having a couple foods that make you wanna gag but you can't possibly hate all fruit, veggies, and dairy like that Try some stuff, you might really like it if you give it a chance!

Josephine/Deb~I have tried SEVERAL times, before and after wls, to eat cottage cheese and yogurt and it literally makes me gag. I just cannot do it. I don't like fruit because of the way it feels slimey in my mouth. I don't know what else to tell ya...I seriously can't do veggies, fruit or beans. I like chilli, but what am I gonna do, eat chilli every day for the rest of my life? I need ideas. I need someone to tell me how to cook healthy foods, using the foods I can eat.

I guess I'll go google something to try and get some help.

Thanks,

Right from the start, I found myself lactose intolerant. I couldn't (and still can't) eat eggs in any shape or form. Even now, unless ANY meat is finely ground, I can't get it down (so I just don't bother with it now).

But do you know what! It doesn't matter! There are loads of other things I can eat and bottom line, food is nothing more than fuel!

Sweetheart, maybe it's time to re-evaluate how you're looking at this whole thing. Gastric bypass is a tough road and if you were told differently, then someone needs a few light slams.

Instead of focussing on all the things you can't eat, list the things you can.

I'm assuming you can eat meat, fish, wholegrains? Try foods that you've never bothered with before. Eat them at different times - try different and unusual combinations. I'm just finishing my dinner - 1oz LiveActive Cheese, 1/2 cup fresh mango mixed with 3tbs fat free cream cheese and 1/2oz slivered almonds (toasted), all chopped up on a bed of raw baby spinach. 270 cals, 18g protein. And it was gorgeous!

A positive attitude is essential in life, but it's even more so when faced with something so life changing (and occasionally challenging) as gastric bypass. Don't let the few negatives it brings cloud all the rewards.

Come on, Sweetie! You gotta suck it up and eat the right stuff!
Proteins come first, always!:
cheese
peanut butter
beans
legumes
edamame
steak (come on, everyone likes steak!)
fish
pork
eggs
Isopure
Whey Protein
Soy Protein
etc
etc

Basically, you traded your stomach for a healthier, better life. In exchange, you have to do certain things, like eat 80g of protein per day, good veggies, fruits, and then if you have the room, some carbs. If you have to, think of it as a deal with the devil....if you DON'T eat the protein, you will have to be reversed, which will give you back your stomach, but still impact your health pretty negatively. If you don't eat what you need to, take the vitamins you need to, ingest the supplements you need to, YOU WILL DIE. I hate to be the blue meanie here, but that is pretty much the unvarnished truth. And it's not a good way to go, something I would hate to see a Sister go thru. Remember how sick Danita was? You don't want that for yourself, do you?

If you want to lose weight, you have to eat well. Bribe yourself! Eat the protein stuff, whether you have developed a taste for it or not, and then every time you go down a size, go buy yourself one nice thing in that size.
I can pretty much guarantee that your tastes will change, and things you never thought you could tolerate will suddenly be blissful. All of us have had this eye opener, and this is yours, Honey.

80g a day--minimum.

Finding something you like is a key! It is so hard to eat staff that does not taste good to you.

I steam broccoli for a very short time, so it remains pretty solid - I don't like it too soft. And then I bake it with low fat cheese on top.

I also like fresh white cabbage and cucumbers salad. I buy pack of cabbage cut for a coleslaw, cucumbers, dill, chives or/and leeks. I put cabbage first, put some salt on it and squeeze it my hands. When you do that cabbage juice comes out and gets mixed with salt and it becomes part of dressing. Then I chop everything else and mix it in. I put a couple tables spoons of lemon juice and a little of oil (I use sunflower oil unrefined, but olive oil will do as well).
Salad comes out very fresh and crunchy – my whole family loves it!

I make a hot entry with cabbage as well. Originally is done with sausage and beckon but I brought fat content down and I just put some backed chicken latter.

You’ll need pack of fresh precut coleslaw, onion or shallots (use shallots, they have much more flavor), shredded carrots, low fat turkey beckon and low fat chicken stock. You can also use just water in place of chicken stock. I use cooking spray for the pan.

In large pan sauté chopped shallots or onions, chopped turkey beckon (not too much) and carrots. When shallots are golden and carrots soften, add cabbage. Mix it up with whatever already in the pan and give it a couple minutes to soften. Then add chicken stock or water (not too much, 1/ 1.5 cups – liquid level should be bellow level of cabbage in the pan). Reduce hit, and cook covered until cabbage is soft and golden brown.

Good luck!
Tonya
