Angel, thank you so much for sharing the book. I some times struggle to keep fat content low in my food and cook book should help with that.

I have not been a big fan of protein shakes but here are 2 that I actually like. I am a picky eater too so I hope you like these:
Peanut Brittle Protein Shake
1 scoop vanilla low carb protein powder (I use EAS)
2 TBSP sugar free instant butterscotch pudding (dry)
1 TBSP peanut butter (smooth)
8 oz skim milk
3-6 ice cubes
Put all ingrediants into blender. Whip and serve
301 calories 32 grams protein
19 carbs 8 grams fat
Cinnamon Roll Protein Shake
2 scoops vanilla low carb protein powder
1 TBSP sugar free instant vanilla pudding (dry)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 packet artificial sweetner
8oz skim milk
3 ice cubes
Add all indgrediants to blender, whip and srve
Calories 295 48 grams protein 23grams carb

Hope you don't mind me chiming in
I haven't had my surgery yet, but...
I hate beans. All beans. Absolutely. But then I realized that it was more of a textural thing (like you feel about fruit). I realized I could eat lentils if they were very very well cooked (and mushy), re-fried beans, if they were completely mushed, and humus. Still hate the taste of lima beans.
I realize that beans for you is about taste and not texture, but it sounds like some - at least fruit - is a texture issue. Maybe trying them in a different format, where you can change the texture. Harry's Farmers Market (Atlanta metro thing) has lots of dried fruit - some of it organic and without sugar. And the smoothy with your protein mentioned above - with completely liquified fruit - might work too.

Try these too!! YUMMO
LIME SHRIMP LETTUCE WRAPS
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
2 tablespoons soy sauce, divided
3 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, minced
1 pound medium fresh shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, diced
2 green onions, diced
1 (5-ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
1 head iceberg lettuce, cored, cut in 1/2
In a medium bowl, combine lime juice, 2 tablespoons oil, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, ginger and garlic. Add shrimp and let marinate in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
In a medium skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Add bell pepper, green onions, and water chestnuts; cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes. Add shrimp and marinade and cook 3 minutes, or until shrimp are pink. Stir in 1 tablespoon soy sauce.
Divide lettuce into leaves. Spoon about 1/4 cup mixture down center of 1 lettuce leaf. Fold bottom edge and sides up and over filling. Repeat with remaining lettuce leaves and shrimp filling.

Okay Chickie ... here's the scoop ...
I wanna say it was Mike (The Fisher King) who told us all about his homemade "pizza". So he gets all the credit for this...
His wife made him a delicious pizza one night and it went something like this.
1 pita bread (or use the mini ones)
Cut it in half around the edge, so you have 2 thin round pitas
Top it with all your favorite toppings (go crazy!)
Bake it in a 350 oven until gooey and crispy
(I tried mine on a non-stick skillet with a drop of olive oil and it was awesome)
Unfortunately I can't tollerate this kind of food yet, but I sure did try!
And I used to get hungry and crave foods too ... but since I just can't eat much yet, I pretty much gave up on the idea and accepted my situation. I never get hungry anymore because most everything hurts ... so I just stick to the basics and just do what I have to do to thrive. Yea, I get sick of gulping down the same protein drink day after day after day. But food brings me NO pleasure anymore, so it really doesn't matter. I just look at it as though I pushed myself away from the buffet and decided enough's enough.

I sense the idea of "loss" here, but (perversely?) really can't wait (eagerly await) the "never get hungry" "just stick to the basics" "food bring(ing) NO pleasure"...
not to highjack the thread (perhaps I should start a new one with my question?), but JJ: what do you do with your time now ?
Thanks.
