I assumed that eating protein suck as meat and chicken is non-issue. Am I right? Would you like some nice recipes? I would love to share
Let me know,
Tonya

Here's my experience with food ... hope this helps a bit ...
Before surgery, I was the Queen of the Buffet ... no mere mortal could get in my way!! I was the one who invented the "Clean Your 12 Plates Club"!
I was fat and misserable.
Then came surgery.
This former Piggy Girl now has a tough time eating. I'm 3 1/2 months out and still can't tollerate solid food. I'm pretty much on a liquid diet still. The list of foods I can actually eat is very very small. Here's what my typical day looks like ...
Protein drink
Vitamins
Protein drink
Refried beans & cheese before bed
That's it. Seriously.
Beans. Cheese. Almond butter. Chili. Hummus. Edamame.
Those are the only foods I buy because everything else leaves me in pain.
But you know what ... I have lost 80 pounds in 3 months and 1 week ... I ride my bike everywhere and love it ... I have more energy than I had as a kid ... I'm free from Diabetes, high blood pressure AND high cholesterol.
What I'm saying is, I was given a gift with this surgery. I now have the oportunity to live my life to the fullest. I'm actually having FUN! So I can't eat much ... so what?!?! I'm no longer that fat misserable isolated girl I was, I'm a girl who laughes, who talks to strangers, who fills my day with more wonderful things than food.
JUMBO Julie, has NOTHING to complain about, and everything to look forward to.
I'm not trying to smother you with rainbows and unicorns here ... I just hope you can take this gift you have been given and run with it!!!

Hey there. I agree, please post those things that you do like. In one of your prior posts you said that you like burgers and chicken fingers I think. What else? There are a lot of "meat" dishes I and I'm sure others would be happy to share with you. I'm not a big veggie eatter either, but I do like fruit. Do you like salads? I like to take a boneless skinless chicken breast, cut it into chunks, saute in a pan with a touch of water. Let it cool slightly, then place over salad with dried cranberries, almond slivers and raspberry vinegarette. Have you tried any of the salad sprays?
Help us help you by giving us some ideas of "stuff" you do like and we can work on it. There's got to be ways to make the things you like, but changing them up a bit to make them healtht. I'm sure with all of us we can come up with somethings you might like. Take care.
Sharon

hey you can make your own "chicken nuggets" sorta by actually buying those chicken tenders in the meat deparment and either baking them with lots of yummy seasonings or browing them in alittle olive oil and garlic and again tons of seasonings.
mike suggested one time make your own burgers at home. mix in onions, seasonings and even some A1 sauce and bake them

Talapia fish is good if I am spelling that right. Its cheep and packed with protien and low calaries. I fry mine in olive oil with salt and pepper and then sprinkle parmassan cheese on it. yummy. Before surgery I didn't eat much fish but now I crave it all. Weird the surgery changes things. Good luck

I dont know how good the quality of the fish is in GA but maybe fish? You like soy beans? Poke style? Also, a meal replacement idea that my nutritionist gave me was the south beach protein bars. They are pretty tasty and one fills me up superfast! I hope you get some good ideas!

Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions and comments. I appreciate it. I get the feeling, however, that some of you think I'm trying to resist eating healthy and that I'm not embracing the surgery. That's not it at all. If I never knew how to cook healthy foods before surgery, just having the surgery isn't going to automatically bless me with that knowledge, and it's not automatically going to make me like all the stuff I've never liked, which is why I came here to ask for recipe ideas. I'm challenged even more by not liking a lot of foods. So...recipes people...recipes....
The foods I like to eat:
Broccoli (but I get sick of it easily so I need to learn different ways of making it so that it tastes different almost every time)
Pork, chicken, steak, sausage, hamburger (Deb, I did go out and buy hamburger patties and all the stuff that Mike suggested I put on them, that night)
Fish (I eat a lot of Tilapia but I fry it in low cholesterol canola oil so I probably need to learn how to bake it)
Bananas (I can choke down a banana but only with a bit of peanut butter)
Salad (I love caesar salads but every time I try to eat one, especially with chicken on it, it doesn't go down well. I think my pouch's tolerance for chicken and dressing has gone down. I love the ginger salads that you get at those Japanese steak houses, but finding a dressing like that in the grocery store has proven impossible for me.)
Pizza (I love it but seriously, is there anyway to have a healthy pizza?)
Beans (The only bean I can stand to put in my mouth is a kidney bean in chilli, because I can't really taste it mixed in with the other stuff.)
Zuchinni & Onions (As long as it's mixed in with other stuff, I can tolerate it.)
Protein Shakes/Drinks (Still looking for one that doesn't make me gag to the point where my eyes are watering as I'm forcing myself to swallow it.)
Shrimp, all other seafood (Love it, but it's expensive and I do get sick of it)
Julie ~ God I wish that I didn't get hungry like you don't.
Tonya~ Thanks for your recipe ideas and yes, please do share others...that's what I need.

You would probably find it very helpful to get this cookbook:
Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: Over 140 Delicious Low-Fat High-Protein Recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years After Surgery
by Patt Levine (Author), Michele Bontmpo-Saray (Author), William B. Inabnet (Foreword), Meredith Urban-Skuros (Author)
I purchased it on Amazon for $12. If nothing else it should give you some ideas of recipes that you could customize to suit your tastes.
Also take a look at this website. There are some sinful looking and tasting recipes there that may also interest you.

Ok I'm no know it all since I'm only 9 days out, but before surgery I did A LOT of reading and searching for information on this life changing surgery I had. I know for a fact that it's extremely imporant that you get the good stuff your body needs. Try to blend your veggies and fruit together in a blender with your protein... they taste amazing.. I know because I drank them before surgery! You don't have to worry about the texture and you're getting in what you need. That's just one idea... also try cooking your veggies differently. My husband hasn't liked veggies in 20 years until recently. He LOVES his veggies grilled with his meat. That is the only way he'll eat them. Good luck to you. I really hope the best for you.

I can't wait to have my life back, I know it's going to be a long haul, but I know when I'm able to play with my girls, not be in pain anymore, and my husband is able to wrap both arms around me and pick me up that it will all be worth it!

Just make a banana, sausage, broccoli, and kidney bean shake (totally kidding )
I too am having issues with feeling like I'm going to gag with certain foods!!
I am way newer than you but here are some ideas from me and my friends that are way post op
El Pollo Loco: my friend loves it because it's cheap (you can just get a drumstick if you want and some boiled beans (just try em )
egg drop soup (chinese restaurant) is so yummy.. 1 cup only has 70 calories and 8 grams of protein (I am eating this alot right now)
Costco: the premarinated pork loin is sooooo yummy and super moist (I like no sugar added apple sauce on it) and the directions to bake are on the wrapper.
You are so lucky you like fish!! It is so good for you!! most fish you can just bake at 350 for approx 15-20min.
also, might sound weird but I love ANY ground meat with garlic salt and kidney beans in it. you could even try putting it over lettuce for taco salad. add some 2% cheese and FF sour cream... mmmmm
I know not alot of but thought I would offer you at least a couple ideas!!
