Default 9 weeks out and scared

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I had my gastric surgery about 9 weeks ago. In the beginning, I felt fine. Almost like I hadn't had any surgery at all. Then, the last 4 or 5 weeks, I've felt like a train wreck. This past weekend is the most sick I've been this whole time! All I feel like doing is laying down, my stomach feels full even though I haven't eaten. When I try to eat, I immediately start dry heaving. I can be doing nothing at all and I start dry heaving. I have no idea what is going on? I don't have any pain on the inside of my stomach, so I'm not concerned with that. I just feel like my body is completely drained. Did anyone experience this at all?

are you getting your protein and water in?

sounds like a stricture to me..and trust me, I just got over one.

It got so bad that I'd vomit up spit, I know that sounds gross, but the opening got so small I couldnt tolerate small sips of anything...

I'd go to the dr....NOW

EXACT as momof3.

Listen to experience.. i just had the dry heaves for a week, down to the vomit of spit as well (i call them the foamies) and just downright felt miserable.

Don't wait. It gets worse and the worse it gets the harder for them to fix you. Its a VERY simple and painless procedure to get you on the road to 99% feeling normal again pre-surgery!

Call your surgeon. Tell them *exactly* the problems, pack an overnight bag and head to the hospital. You're going to be dehydrated, malnourished and have a stricture more than likely.

now.. Call... what are you waiting for??

Default possible stricture

It sounds like you have a stricture. Call your surgeon to get reevaluated.

I'm not sure if there are was that we as PATIENTS can prevent strictures...except maybe paying attention to your doctors food protocol. Not eating things too soon that could irritate the lining of the pouch.

My doctor said that she has only had may 2-3 patients with strictures...maybe it's due to the way she does her pouches? Not sure though.

But all-in-all I'd say it's pretty much a crap-shoot if you get a stricture...you can do everything right and get one; or do everything wrong and not get one...

Aselby~ Let us know how you're doing and what was found, okay?

Like the ladies before me. It really sounds like a stricture and you need to get yourself checked out by a doctor soon. If you haven't called your doctor please do!! In the meantime just keep trying to get some kinds of fluids in. Dehydration is a real concern. Listen to the voices of experience above. They know what they are talking about.

from what I can tell, you cant prevent a stricture. they make this new opening from your pouch to your intestines and basicallly your body tries to heal it. I cant imagine anything preventing it, my dr said I'll probably have it again, its just one of those things...
