Default Ok I did it!

I'm five days out. My surgery was on Tuedsay, and I made them let me go home yesterday night. I was so home sick, but without the IV meds I'm in an extreme amount of pain. I had gastric bypass surgery and extensive hernia repair and my muscle wall stappled back together. I've never been in so much discomfort. I know that I can't be alone on this or the first one to go through it. Any suggestions on how to make the pain a little easier to deal with? I'm so hungry too which is weird because I know that my body can't handle too much at any given time. My husband is extremely nervous and upset about the liquid only diet until 6/26/08 when I can go to the next step. Any suggestions would be appreicated.

Thanks!
Sarah

I can't wait to have my life back, I know it's going to be a long haul, but I know when I'm able to play with my girls, not be in pain anymore, and my husband is able to wrap both arms around me and pick me up that it will all be worth it!

Congrats on your surgery! I hope you are feeling better soon. As far as your diet...you should ask your surgeon. Did he/she not give you any food guidelines to follow? From what I remember I think I was on liquids for a few weeks but then again it's different for everyone. It's hard...but you'll get through it.

They prescribed you pain meds, right? Take those and as much as it hurts try to get up and move around every hour so you don't get blood clots. You went home early. It will get better.

You need to take those pain meds they gave you to take home with you!
