Smile Daughter 3 weeks post-op and vomiting

Hi,

My daughter is a little over three weeks post op and takes many supplements/vitamins plus meds for acid reflux, depression, gallbladder, birth control and it seems that if she takes them all later in the morning after she's eaten her first meal, eg: yogurt she'll feel stuck and has to vomit.

Do you all have tricks when it comes to taking your meds as to when or breaking them up etc... Her vomiting seems to be related to her meds as she takes a huge cocktail as I'm sure you all do also. I'm a bandster so it's a bit different for me, thanks brandyII.

My doctor said can just crush it/them and put them in water (I would do propel or something flavored)

I hate to take pills and even at 6 months out have trouble. What I have been doing the past two weeks, and it has helped is to break any larger ones I have in half, and put them all in a ziploc for the day. I keep it in my pocket and throughout the day as I am sipping on my water I will take a pill. If it is a morning pill I will do those first. All the rest I just do throughout the day. Otherwise I would not eat because I am full on pills. I hope this helps.

There are 8 pills and some are capsules and some are chewables. It just seems like a lot, do you ever spread them out during the day or take them later in the day when you're "more open"? thanks brandyII

Thanks that's kind of what I was wondering. I don't have to take all of those supplements and she's like you and isn't too fond of Rxs and since surgery is on at least five more! I'll give her that idea, I appreciate it brandyII

I will have a whole vitamin schedule. I will spread out the 7 vitamins throughout the day from morning until afternoon. 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm etc.

So Laura, how did you come up with this schedule, were you told to do it this way or did you come up with it yourself. Sounds like a pretty good idea. When I talked to the PA about my daugher and her vitamins she kind of shrugged it off like she'll take them when she needs them. I'm like well doesn't she need them????

Thanks it sounds like a good plan to me!!! brandyII

I suggest not having her take them all at once. Sorry she's feeling like this!
