After surgery you will not want to lift any weights - so I wouldn't even worry about that now.
As far as the BFL (body for life) cardio goes.... it's 20 minutes total. 2 minutes at normal pace then you bump it up a notch each minute for minute 3,4,5,6 then go back down to your normal pace again for one minute, then repeat that process 4 times. It's simple once you get the hang of it. I usually stay at a set speed and increase the incline. Once you can start lifting the weights you alternate upper and lower body....choosing 4/5 different exercises. You can also go to the bodyforlife.com website and they show you all the workouts, etc... there is also a "guestbook" which is great and people are more than happy to answer all your questions there too!
