Default large movements - yes those movements

Don't really know any way to sugar coat this one, but since my surgery around 3 months ago, I've been having huge (and often painful) bowel movements. I average about 2 every 3 days and it seems like there is more coming out that I put in.

I kept seeing that scene from the Sopranos where the guy has a heart attack and dies while on the toliet.

I'm drinking plenty of water, taking all my vitamins and minerals I'm suppose to and exercising almost as much as I'm suppose to - is this a common problem?

Changes in bowels are very common. My husbands got very loose and my tend to be very firm and I get constipated. I have to make sure I get enough fiber by taking Metamucil daily to stay regular. Are you constipated or loose?

Honey if you're sure you're drinking all the water you're supposed to 64 oz... maybe up it to 90 oz if you can? Add some beans and some flaxseed to your diet. If that doesn't help, definitely talk to the doc about finding the right laxative for you. Are you still on pain pills? Those can constipate you.

Lisa,

That was me too.

Along with upping your water, I found Benefiber helpful and when things got really blocked, Miralax came to my rescue.

Try not to let yourself get in a position of only going every 3 days. It then becomes painful to pass.

I wouldn't worry so much about what's coming out as I would what's going in!

As long as there is no blood and not constant diarrhea, you will probably adjust to your new bowel habits as time goes on. You're not abnormal or anything...just different than before!

Good luck!

Thanks everyone - I haven't had a single episode of diarrhea or even a loose stool - they have all been rather large and solid. Also haven't had any pain medicine in almost 3 months.

I'll try some of the suggestions you have mentioned.
