How Does Your Insission Look???
I have not had my surgery yet, I am scheduled 6/26, but I have come to the conclusion that I have no idea what I will look like after the surgery. I mean, where exactly are they going to cut me? Is there different methods of doing this surgery. I just assumed they were going to open me from belly button to the top of my stomach, but I guess that is not always the case. Can someone tell me what kind of scar to expect? Is it going to be a huge scar or a few tiny ones?
Dr. Callary in San Diego is going to perform this so anyone that has had him will be helpful.
Thanks for your replies!

Dr. C did not do my surgery, but my scars ar so small you will barely be able to see them in a few months. I have one small one right in the middle below my boobs, two longer ones below and to each side and then 2 other smaller ones out towards the sides.... kinda like this

OK, had to play with it a little - like that but without the ". . . " that I had to use for spacing to get it to look right.
I am 4 weeks out and they have healed nicely - one is almost invisible already!

Wow, that is totally not what I imagined. I hope mine turn out to be small. I already had my gall-bladder removed and that was horrible. I have a six inch scar on the side of my stomach. I figured by the time I am done having surgery again, I would look like a train track or something....hahahaha

mine was done laproscopically, which I assume Dr. C will do on you also unless there is a medical necessity to go open. My longest ones are about 1.5 inches, the others are about .5 inches.

you are probbaly going to have laporoscopic which is 5 or so small incisions. Very minor on the outside.
I had open RNy and have an incision from under my breast to almost my navel. After Tummy tuck, the insicion moved down and now stretches to my belly button.
Heres a pic, with the appropriate flash to see scar. In natural light they are difficult to see. Keep this in mind, though, everyone needs different procedures and we all heal differently.

Like everyone else, I had a laproscopic RNY (five weeks ago today). Doctors tend to do the surgery laproscopically unless there is a medical reason to do open RNY. Call and ask Dr. Callery's office what to expect -- it should be in your charts.
Anyway, I have five small marks and one slightly larger one (the closing stitch came undone because it was right at my waistband). I figure when I have plastics in a couple of years or so, that'll be removed. By small marks, I mean no larger then 1/4 inch circles.

Let me tell ya about Dr. Callery's scars
I had RNY on May 20, 2008 by Dr. Callery and it was done lap, not open. I have a 1/2 inch scar in my belly button, and two 1 1/2 scars on either side of my belly button. I have a 1 inch scar about 3 inches down from my right breast, a 1/2 inch scar about 2 inches down from my boobs and smack dab in the middle of my stomach (this scar is where your OnQ Pain pump will be, and will also be where your pouch is located so it will be the most painful area after surgery). Not done yet-I also have a 1/2 inch scar about 3 inches down from my left breast, and lastly, a 1 inch scar about 4 inches down from my left breast and to the left. In total, I have 7 incision sites (scars).

If I remember correctly, I have 6 incisions...most of them are about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long. My worst incision is where I had my JP drain...it looks like a letter Y, and is about 1 inch big. I also have an incision right inside my belly button...that's where the doc fixed an umbilical hernia.
The way I figure it, my belly is covered with stretch marks from my 1 pregnancy. Even if I were skinny already, there's no way I'd go out in public showing those suckers!

Hey Sherry, at least YOU can blame them on a pregnancy! I've never been pregnant before, but I look like I've given birth more times than Warren Jeff's wives!!!
