Hi Slimmer...maybe this will help, this was taken about 1 week post-op. Now they are barely visible.

I have six scars, and unfortunally for me, they are very notisable, they look like leashes attached to my belly. Ok, so they have gone down in size, but they are redish dark and well, I have to say that is nothing to do with the doctor, it is me, I have always made this type of scars, my PCP told me once what it was called, but I can't recall , he once removed a cyst of my shoulder and it made this ugly scar, he removed it and reclosed it, just to see an even bigger scar form . My mom also makes scars like this so is a genetic thing, I think that will come at play with all, mainly is, how do you scar and how fast they fade for you. The one on my shoulder, after four years, is finally gone from redish dark to flesh color and is decreasing in size, but it's taken time. I hope in time my stomach ones will at least change color to a lighter one, I can always tatoo them to look like bugs

To all of you who sent pictures...Thanks! I'm in the same boat with all of you who have stretch marks. I have so many, I don't even think you will see the scars anyways...hahahaha

The farther post op the less noticeable mine are. Plus since I have been tanning you can't hardley see them or he stretch marks. My scars look pretty much the same as Kyma's except the one she has above her navel mine is below. Good luck I look at it as a small price to pay to have my life and body back after all these years.

Don't worry about it Chickie ... just try to relax, whatever comes will come.
I had mine 'open' so I have a six inch scar. In the last 3 months it has gotten very light in color ... give it another 6 months and it'll just blend in with my stretch mark collection (Let's see here ((counting)) this will soon be Stretch Mark #227).

Thank you Sherry!
But honestly, I'm soooo super shy in the company of strangers. Like, scared stiff shy. My real personality only comes through when I'm with friends, like all of you

I've had C-Section, Open RNY, Abdominal Pen., Hernia Repair and Open Revision, so my up and down scar(s) is/are really long. I can see the scars from the drains but if you don't know where to look you probably can't. No, no belly button, I lost it during the Ab. Pen. I gave it up due to scar tissue from LAP tubal ligation. There was a chance they would have to remove it if I lost blood circulation to it so I said just make it easy on yourself and take it out. The scars don't bother me, I consider them battle scars! If you're going LAP you will not have the up and down like I do.
Anyway, good luck with your surgery! It's so worth it.
Sharon

Can someone tell me what kind of scar to expect? Is it going to be a huge scar or a few tiny ones?
Dr. Callary in San Diego is going to perform this so anyone that has had him will be helpful.
Thanks for your replies!

I have not had my surgery yet either, but I understand they are 6 little holes. For me, nothing can be as bad as the scar from my hyst. At my age no more bikinis for me anyway.
