Default Top 10 mistakes?!? Not me!! (Ok yeah well somewhat me..)

It bothered me more than a little to realize that at least 3 of the 10 items listed in this thread:

10 Most Common WLS Mistakes Patients Make

are mistakes that are building up for me.. I'm only seven weeks out but I don't exercise enough, I don't take my vitamins regularly, and I don't drink enough water, still.

I am interested in being accountable (in the sense of posting accountable ok?) for addressing these issues and any that anyone else might have on a daily basis. Personally for me right now I want to work on two goals: 32 ounces of water minimum per day and taking all my vitamins.

Any other takers?

ok chewing my multivitamin right.. now yay!! *Not mentioning I had to hunt down the bottle in order to take it *

Jacki,

You really have to take all your vitamins/supplements! I've been very faithful about taking mine...probably considered pretty anal about it really. Just some suggestions that might help make things easier:

#1 ~ Buy two huge 7-day pill reminder containers (fill the up for the week, use one for AM and one for PM)

#2 ~ Buy 16 ounce bottle of water...and refill...get at least 2 (for a total of 32 ounces) of fluids (water/crystal lite, etc) in by noon...then another 2 end before bedtime.

#3 ~ Exercise...whether it's plain old walking, using the treadmill, video tapes, joining a gym...it all counts and will get you started in the right direction!

And most importantly...remember this...if you get your liquids in, exercise, and take your supplements...you will begin to not just lose WEIGHT...but gain CARDIO health too! Remember this is for life! Tell yourself you'll exercise some way at LEAST 3 times a week MINIMUM...it you do more great...but set the bar at a minimum. I bring my workout clothes to work and go DIRECTLY to the gym (I still don't like working out...but I feel better afterwards)...no excuses.

Another thing...I've been religiously taking my protein/vitamins and have been losing literally TONS of hair!! Now if you are NOT getting your vitamins/supplements in I can guarantee that you hair will fall out worse than mine! Hope that "scares" you into submission...now take those meds! LOL

jackie you have got to have at least 64 oz of fluid you will seriously do some dehydrating damage to yourself. and Cathy's right about the vitamins and yeah i'm religous about my protein and vitamins and i've lost tons of hair too, its so thin

great job on the accountability thing. Dr Phil always says "we cant change what we dont acknowledge" and i too acknowledged something and funny enough now i dont do it anymore

I struggle with the water. I don't keep track but do know its around 40oz. I am so sick of water and crystal light and all of it. It gags me at times. I am not dehydrated so not to worried at this time. I also struggle with the vitamins but am doing tons better then before. I know once I can swallow them I will do better. I have never been one who can chew vits and stuff like that it gags me as well. I think its the texture and chalkyness of it.
Protien I am not getting in what my dr would like but since I have tried pretty much them all and am not about to waste anymore money on it they are ok that i get it from my food and so everything I eat is high in protien and so far no hair loss.

But I do get my exercise in and I am happy with my results.

Ok, good thing I read that, just a good reminder, I think I will print it and put it on my refrigerator and by my computer too.
Sometimes I forget to take one of my vitamins. and Water, I need to make sure I get it all in, especially because I have had kidney problems in the past, bad ones.
Excersize, I love it, just steped up the bow flex and it's doing so great on my belly, it's literally melting, so yes, I agree, and I feel so much better too, stronger and healthier.
So here it goes, I think it is a good idea,, for me, for my accountability, I say I took all my vitamins today, did my excersize, and am still working on the water,, tomorrow will be a better day,, night for now.

thanks for posting in the spirit of this post - I appreciate others being willing to post their struggles and goals

I did take my vitamins yesterday - and forgot to take my prilosec :P so today I will make sure I take the prilosec as well. I drank more than the usual 32 ounces of water but didn't measure the extra... a new day with new commitment - vitamins, prilosec and 32+ ounces of water!
