I can relate
I live in Germany and I LOVE LOVE LOVE a schnitzel covered in a creamy mushroom sauce with french fries and a yummy glass of wine to wash it all down with. And, if I felt to full after that I would have a shot of German schnaps to aid in digestion. Oh - the good old days!
And, that was less then a month ago. I did the 10 day liquid diet before surgery and for 9 days afterwards. I had my gastric bypass on 28 May. The last few days I have added some solid food into my diet (like pork, crab, eggs) and I have felt great. My energy level is up and all the food has agreed with me. I have made sure to chew properly, eat a small amount, and not drink for 30-60 minutes afterward. Funny thing is it seems the solids are easier for me then the liquids (my stomach cramps easily if I drink water to fast or to big of a swallow).
The only problem is that I am supposed to be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks. I have been waiting to hear back from my surgeon if this is ok. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced being able to tolerate foods early on. I wonder if this is bad? But, the truth is I feel I am having less calories and more protein by eating solids as opposed to eating soups and yogarts. I am still drinking a protein drink daily.

Van, you crack me up with your Diet Coke!
That's the same as me having a straight shot of tequila rather than a margarita because of the sugar syrup added to it!!!!
And I must admit, I too mis my fav meal ... a huge tub of movie theater popcorn soaking wet with that fake butter oil junk. Oh yea, and don't forget the free refil!!!

So when he picked me up, I decided "Screw It! I'm going all balls out tonight!" Of course I couldn't eat anything, but I did have two shots of tequila AND two cigarettes. Smoking made me really lightheaded (wasn't fun) and the alcohol left me a mangled mess on the patio. I got instantly drunk, then sobered up in about 30 minutes. Then I had the second shot, got drunk again and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning I had the biggest hangover of my life. It was so brutal, I've never ever felt so horrible. I litterally had a 24 hour hangover.
I couldn't enjoy any food ... so I went over board with everything else. I just wanted so badly to "Enjoy" myself again. What a friggin' mess I was. I do NOT want a repeat performance.
So yes, I absolutely understand needing to look somewhere other than food to feel good. And it SUCKS!

Damn that looks good! On another forum I belong too, if they post pictures or talk about fattening food, they put "Food Porn" in the title so people are aware! LOL

OMG, I love movie popcorn...really I love any type of popcorn, and can't wait until I can tolerate just a bite or two. I used to always get my movie popcorn with extra, extra, extra, extra butter. They'd fill up half the tub and butter it, and fill up the rest and butter it again. I'd put a thick layer of paper napkins over my lap to deal with the butter leakage.
I want to see the new Chronicles of Narnia movie in the worst way...but I don't think I could hack the popcorn smell of the theatre right now.
