Wedding Meal 6 weeks post op
Well, I am not post op, yet, but I will be 6 weeks out at the time of my friend's wedding on September 6th. I am concerned because I will not be on solid foods yet, only soft, pureed foods. How should I handle this situation? I know I will have to have something special prepared, and I feel bad about that. I will be traveling from Florida to New York for the wedding and am concerned with getting proper meals while I am there. I am in the wedding so there will be a lot of running around the end of that week and the weekend. She is getting a house in the hamptons for the weekend for the wedding and the reception. I have no idea how easy it will be to pick up my own food from where she is located. Very nervous about this trip, please help!

I say voice your concerns with your friend about the wedding menu and what will be your food shopping options for the area you are in. I know your friend is busy planning a wedding but I bet she will be more than willing to give you info on the area and your eating situation.

I talked to her about it a little, but my friends are so sick of hearing about the surgery that I think she sort of missed the comment. lol I talk about little else lately since it's such a huge milestone for me. I will have to bring it up again.

I think when I was on soft food I could eat eggs, mashed potatoes, beans, etc, just ask her if she can get that stuff for you to eat while you are at the house. Tell her you will be happy to pay her for the food. I'm sure she will understand. As far as the reception ask her what they are going to have maybe they will have something you can eat. I think vegis are OK in the soft food stage, but it's been so long since I've had to worry about soft foods I don't remember. Also ask your doc what thier soft food menu is, because every doc is not the same.

i think if I can clend it up I can have it, assuming it is healthy. My dr's guidelines are to keep it "atkins friendly" as though I am on the atkins diet, so chicken salad and tuna salad are high on the list, along with eggs (yuck) and stuff like that. I don't think I am allowed to have veggies until I am 8 weeks out. I will have to double check.

If at the wedding they can make you poached fish like tilapia or salmon...that should be good an moist. You won't be eating anything else like veggies. Maybe a twice baked potato so you can have something else to go with it.
In terms of the weekend...the house will have a kitchen and Live on cottage cheese, string cheese and soups while there. Any gas station carries those items in their store.
Good luck.

Ok, you ready for the real burn...and I am hoping this will change once I am post op...I don't like fish, eggs (unless it's only whites), beans, potatoes, or anything with that mushy/grainy texture. I like seafood, tuna, and sushi, but a cooked slice of fish...can't do it. luckily I LOVE chicken, so I will probably live on that for a while. lol why do I have to be such a pain!?

My taste chaged A LOT, so you never know you might LOVE eggs & beans.
