Default Drink Your Water!!!!

Hey everyone,
I can not stress enough how important it is to drink ALOT of water after surgery, I spent my weekend in the hospital passing a kidney stone , I was in oceanside visiting my mother for her birthday and we went to dinner and my lower back on the right side started to ache, i figure gas no big deal, my mother gave me TUMS (her answer to everything) 30 minutes later my mom and dad are rushing me to tri-city hospital in severe pain, of course emergency was packed full and i ended up waiting for 4 hours, well by then the pain went away but i still stayed, i thought i had done something wrong with my surgery 1 catscan later it was confirmed that i had passed a stone. I would have rather given birth to a baby hippo it hurt so bad. So Please, please please. drink, drink, drink!!!!!!!

Unhappy I feel your pain

I also had kidney stones after surgery. I think it was 3 or 4 weeks after. What ever pain I had after WLS was a tickle compared to the pain of those damn kidney stones. The nurse told me hey if you can get through this then you can do child birth with no problems. I told her at least with child birth I get to take something cute home not a strainer that I have to pee in and catch more stones. It was the most pain I have ever had in my life. Even after I got pain meds I still felt it, but didn't care because I was so drugged.

Default You would be surprised

Alot of folks go through that surprisingly enough... that or back to the ER for IV fluids they get dangerously dehydrated.

Make sure you drink that water, or else when its time to poop, its gonna feel like your trying to deliver a rock! ouch! happened one time too many for me!

Great reminder to get on the water band wagon folks... Im glad your okay Mary!

Thanks for the heads up. I hate kidney stones. It has got to be the worse pain anyone will ever experience.

Default Here we go again!!!

O.K. what the h***! I have been passing stones like crazy. I have been to Urgent care 4 times in the last 2 months passing stones not to mention the ones with the pain i can handle at home so i must have passed about 20. I am drinking my WATER, VITAMINS, PROTEIN what am i doing wrong! I go for a CT SCAN on Oct. 27 and the Eurologist (sp?) Nov. 3rd. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have stopped drinking coffee even though i only drank 1 cup a day. The docs said they can not tell what i am deficient in until i catch one (yeah right) Like i am in the Bass Masters or something hahaha Anyway, i just had to vent my frustration and please wish me luck on my fishing with a strainer.

Mary that is great advice. I will admit that some days are better then others but I always make sure I am getting plenty of fluids in. I seem to get more fluids in while working out. After awhile everyone should have a structured way of drinking their water.
